Hey, I always take a level or two in swimming. Helps out on the sunken ship at Liberty Island. Helps out a ton in hong kong, not only for oxygen, but also as a time saver since otherwise it is excruciatingly slow.
Were else, hmm... The airport.
All the skills can be useful in Deus Ex. Ever play a Demolition only game....?

By that kind of loose standard, which skills in AP are useless?
LancerChronics on 17/6/2010 at 17:29
It's a matter of being able to smoothly beat the game by maxing less that common skills. Like you can still play a comfortable DX game by maxing Swimming, Demolitions, and Environmental Training.
Never played AP, was just relating what Yahtzee said in a TL: DR type of way. (Easier to watch the video imo.)
Yahtzee apparently went Stealth + H2H, and the game forced him into a boss fight where stealth was useless, and the guy did too much damage at close range. So he was forced to use a weapon he wasn't trained in. Something which never happens in DX. There's always a way to complete the objective, using the skills you've trained.
I'm noticing a bit of hostility, I'm not attacking AP. Its a different game. I just relating some apparent similarities and differences that were referenced in the review. (Last thing I want to do is get dragged into the AP-good vs. AP-bad argument.)

Yahtzee, as we all know, mostly plays it for laughs. I also played through with a mix of H2H and stealth, and while some things were a challenge, I didn't get stuck at all (apart from at the first hacking minigame where my brain balked at the visual information overflow).
P'raps Yahtzee, while funny, is just a bit shit at games?

Yes, I've definitely noticed this on several of his reviews where I've just thought "Stop nitpicking and get better at games." Doesn't stop him being mostly hilarious though.

Oh definitely not, and I still make it a point to watch ZP every week.

h2h is pretty overpowered in ap, he just did not use any gadgets i assume. a few shocktraps lvll2 or 3 and the brayko fight is over in 2 minutes.

No intentional hostility. In this case I was genuinely curious. I'm still kind of curious, since you have enough skillpoints for 3 skills assuming you're not spreading them around. I guess the third was sabotage.
The Deus Ex comparison is about right though. It definitely follows that paradigm in how guns are handled, though without the laser sight workaround.

Very enjoyable game, just finished it for the 3rd time :)
I had problems the first time, though. I only focused in the sneak and sabotage skills and was useless in combat, which made a few boss fights extremely hard.

Hah, now that was brilliant ending, since Leland liked me, I agreed to join Halbech and he was my handler along with Steve. I fought Westridge, and ended with Leland at the pier, smoking cigars, waiting for the boat - and still, there was an option to betray him :cheeky:
