Agree on sticking with it. It's not in my top 10, but it's pretty damned good once you've got more than the tip in.

Also, the keybinds for hacking DON'T rebind, as far as I remember, but the help tips assume they do, so if for instance it's "spacebar (crouch)" to select one of the hack codes, and you've rebound crouch to left shift, it'll say "left shift to select code", but it's actually still spacebar.
Anyway, I had to google hacking a fair bit before I got the actual idea (and the keybinds).
The rest of the game is gold, though. Even though I would apparently be a terrible, terrible spy.

Once I figured out how the hacking minigame worked, I enjoyed it quite a bit - having to look for two things at the same time was a nice challenge. Mind you, it'd have been much less aggravating if you could've used the keyboard to control both selection boxes (WASD + direction keys, for instance).

I remember having problems with hacking too. It isn't just you. Stick with it, it really is the best game I played last year.

Thanks for the advice.
Here's my problem with hacking. I am able to get the code on the left side. I hit spacebar and lock it in. It says to use WSAD to move the grid, however once I have the left code locked in, WSAD no longer works and the only way to move is with the horribly laggy mouse.
WTF am I doing wrong?
Thanks.
Now that I'm sitting here, a few other questions as well. When you first start the game, are you allocated points to put wherever you want, because I didn't see any. Also, the game didn't come with a digital manual, and the tutorial in-game seems very vague to me. It doesn't even explain the dialogue system that I've found.

I thought wasd+mouse was the only way to do it? Anyways, you need to put points in hacking/lockpicking, if you want to fare at them later (and they're ok if you do). The best way to do hacking is moving them at the same time and just glancing at the numbers, searching for anything static.

It's a really half-arsed port of the console control scheme where each thumbstick controls one of the words. It's a shame that Alpha Protocol had all these annoying technical problems as it's a fantastic game otherwise.
At the start of the game, unless you picked the roll-your-own option, you get a standard set of abilities.

Thanks for the manual Gunny. It was a big help. The in-game tutorial really sucks and even the written manual pretty lacking but better than nothing..
Finally got the hang of hacking but if I'm under a lot of pressure doubt I'll be very good at it. Now that I've finally gotten the hang of the mini-games, (at least know what I'm supposed to do), I've got to find a way to smooth out the mouse a bit. The mouse is so slow trying to navigate, all the mini-games are almost unbearable.
This is what I've altered in the ini.
MinSmoothedFrameRate to 20
MaxSmoothedFrameRate to 30
Is there something else I can try because this didn't seem to do squat.
Thanks again.
