Sounds boner inducing:

I have to admit I'm pretty excited by the idea of a modern spy game in the Mass Effect engine with a little more action and Obsidian's ridiculously awesome dialog trees and RPG mastery. Somehow I'm imagining James Bond meets Sam Fisher in a dark alley with a copy of KOTOR2.

From what I gather, there's a cover system (which are fine, even on PC). Also the equivalent to "magic buffs" sound bullet time or John Woo-esque. Character builds can range anywhere between a suave Bond-esque spy to the balls-to-the-wall Jason Bourne architype, according to previews that I've read.
I'm surprised at how this game hasn't received any hype. It may end up being a "summer sleeper hit".
Incidentally Bioware's Dragon Age is due out around the same time.

Mass Effect had a cover system as well, fwiw. I think it works ok in a game like that though, as opposed to a straight action game - I found it kind of jarring in the Quantum of Solace demo, for instance, probably due in part to the camera shift.
Based on the games I'm aware of coming out for PC this year, either this, FEAR 2, or Mirror's Edge will likely be my personal 2009 game of the year.

Yes. Yes. Yes. Sounds quite a lot like Deep Cover may have been. Not convinced by the dialogue system which carries a distinct whiff of the Mass Effect retard wheel, but, well, MCA/ Mitsoda >>EA Edmonton dialogue wise, plus glassing >> collar grabbing.

UE3 (as coincidentally was ME, and Bioshock for that matter).

I'm interested in seeing what Obsidian can do with the retard wheel though. Bioware's dialog and moral choices are always completely obvious and straightforward, basically a more verbose Bethesda, where Obsidian seems to do a good job with dialog trees and response choices that make you think for a few seconds before replying.

I agree, but IIRC you aren't (necessarily) going to have a huge amount of time to decide how to respond. Certainly the concept was that if you interrupted the NPC talking you could give/get a different response than if you waited patiently to let them give you their entire spiel, and that some NPCs might not just stand around waiting for your response. From some of their comments this still seems to be the case, eg the recent mentions of being able to do contextual gun grabbing and glassing in conversation.
Which certainly sounds pretty cool. So long as it is implemented right.
