It's always something, isn't it? :p
I used Tafferpatcher to upgrade DromEd to 2.10, and now it won't bring me back into the game when I use Alt+E (BTW: CAPS LOCK is not on)
Previously all I had to do was edit the DARK.BND file by adding "bind e+alt edit_mode". That doesn't seem to work any more. It worked with versions 1.19 and 2.0. Do I need to edit a different file with 2.10?
ps: Originally upgraded to 2.12, but the very handy SWAP TEXTURES under EXTRAS is missing from that version. Can't live without it.

"bind e+alt edit_mode"-->put this in default.bnd/user.bnd

I assume you mean 1.21 and 1.20?
If you want to have "swap textures" in 1.21, then edit your menu.cfg? Like adding the line:
menu_extras_1 Swap textures:texture_change @@Texture1,Texture2
(Change the "1" to a number not used in your menu_extras.)

Thief and Dromed is all very config file driven. I strongly suggest that you keep baseline copies of all your config files. Then when you upgrade using something like Tafferpatcher, compare the resulting config files to your baseline ones. Tafferpatcher tries to standardize your config files, which is good, but it may not have everything that you like turned on/off. If you see that something in your baseline configuration that is now missing as a result of Tafferpatcher, you can easily add it back in. But do take the trouble to to read the release notes that came with the upgrade. That will let you know about all the new stuff, not just the stuff that Tafferpatcher decided should be in the standard configuration.

You could try installing (Or reinstalling) the 'Dromed Basic' toolkit. I fixed the alt+e edit mode bug in the binding files. It's also optimized for newdark, and it's menus are unified across Thief1, thief2 and Ss2. It's also more advanced than the name implies. ;)

What non-trivial software isn't?

A always in this forum, everyone in this thread has been very considerate and helpful. Thank you all!
fibanocci: This worked
Notesthes: You just made my day!
Larry: I have backups of clean, working installs with the cfg files customized. But I lack a great deal of knowledge in things even remotely technological, and much of what is written in those files and in the release notes is foreign to me. So I become fearful of charging ahead with any changes. Sigh. Never should have given up the Jack. Fools rush in ...
AntiMatter_16: The DromEd Toolkit I used is my old backup version. I did not know it had been optimized for NewDark. Will look for the latest version to download and install.
ZylonBane: my brain before coffee :erg:
