What about noisemakers? I've never used a single noisemaker in any Thief game.
About moss arrows though, I used to never use them, but they are priceless for dropping down onto a lower surface.

I rarely use moss arrows - I usually just try to sneak real slowly. Dropping down is one of the situations where they come in handy, and sometimes on tile or metal floors, I just get impatient and use a moss arrow.
Noisemakers, on the other hand, I do use occasionally - one thing I like to do is shoot a noisemaker to draw several guards close together, then take them out with a gas arrow.

I use that ploy whenever I can too. :cheeky:

Four guards, one gas arrow...very satisfying!:thumb:

Broadheads are cheaper, but if I have a noisemaker and I need to make some noise somewhere away from me, then yeah why not.

Also cant beat the priceless combination of :
noisemaker + flash mine + about 4-6 guards + a twitch blackjack
Very satisfying knowing youre fast enough to KO 4-6 guards in one flash...

I've had some bad luck with the gas arrows.
Average Experience: There are 3 gaurds close together, looking around, and alerted. I launch a gas arrow right at the center of the group, and it somehow miraculously passes under the arm of one and flies out the other side of the group, gassing a poor innocent bystander.

Sounds like you haven't realized that gas arrows, like fire arrows, don't arc in flight. You should aim at the ground in the center of the group, not arm level. :D

I've played all three Thief games (and finally own all three, I'm so happy!) I never really use Moss arrows though. I use them on occasion to make a guard choke or something to kill him quickly, I usually did that in Thief: DS. But other then that, I don't use them at all. As for Noisemaker arrows. I find throwing objects or even a broadhead will do the trick. I will try that tip that one guy was talking about using a noisemaker arrow to draw a bunch of guards around each other and gas arrow them. Very nice. I wish those gas bombs were in Thief 1 and 2...or are they? I forgot, I just got Thief 1 and 2 and am replaying them for old times sake (and because they just kick ass like that)

I don't use moss arrows too: I always try to find the way without them even in the large, tiled areas and reserve them for later use. :erg:
I prefer broadhead/water arrows and blackjack. No sword, no gass or mines, no potions. But I use a lot of flashboms on undeads. Then I can use all my equipment - even speed and invisible potions. And I eat a lot, to recover my health.
Practically, blackjack and food is essential for me :cheeky:
