In the zoomed in image I can see that the intersection is just outside the pillar so it appears that the room brush was moved "down" the screen slightly and not in the z sense. The first and second images have the same file name/location so I thought the non-zoomed image was not posted.

Since there's no reason to post the same image twice, it's reasonable to assume that a mistake was made.

I've corrected my mistake and remembered that 'down [the screen]' is not a good use of words when dealing with 3d geometry. 'Moved south' is more accurate. I hope there hasn't been too much head scratching or noises of puzzlement.
