I used to stick with AMD but now I couldn't care less what happens to them. Their graphics card division would be a great acquisition though. I wonder this also means for the PS4?

And...guess what? This has nothing (directly) to do with gaming. Try the Tech forum, I come here so I can avoid news about the stock market and any kind of corporate BS.

Try reading my post first. If the PS4 ends up changing components at this stage that will probably also mean further delays. Possibly pushing it out a 2013 release.

Oh well at least we have the Wii U to satisfy our shiny new gaming tech needs in the meantime.

You should care. Intel having a monopoly on x86 CPUs should that side of it cease to exist would be a very bad thing for PC Gamers, innovation and PC prices in general.

With prices likely being the quickest one to become apparent. Some guy was talking on another forum that if AMD disappeared from the x86 market Intel would come under pressure to split, but I don't know if the CPU would be viewed to that level of granularity to bring it about.
I guess the best thing would be to see AMD bought up, but it looks like that would be difficult on account of patent agreements with Intel.

That's what everyone always says, but I don't think that will happen. Sure MS has abused its monopoly many times but it still ends up biting the company in the ass. Look at the hate towards Windows 8 for instance.

Wasn't AMD close to going under ages ago? PC has come back with a vengeance this year, so what happens to the PS4 is no big deal either way.

Aside from gimmicky controllers, Wii U has nothing going for it. Its hardware specs are inferior to the current gen consoles and its online services are backward as well.

Yeah, but imagine playing Aliens Colonial Marines with the beepy radar on your gamepad. That would be pretty cool you have to admit.
