An alternative Minecraft server. - by june gloom

I tried to send this via PM but TTLG limited your inbox quota.
Hey dethtoll,
I just wanted to say that I'm probably not going to visit the server anymore. I came there for a multiplayer game and it ended up being a single player without monsters. I feel kinda bad because you put work into getting me into the game and then showing me around, which I appreciated.
And I put work (even though it may not look like it) into my forest experiment. I will miss that place.
But the way it is this map feels even more lonely for the fact that there obviously once were people in it.
Should you somehow manage to establish a population of more than 2 people there again, I'll be glad to rejoin.
Regards
Kolya
PS: I broke Duckeh's sado maso trap

Trap?
Wut?
Ok, fs. That does it, next time someone pins blame on me for freaky shit that I, sadly, didn't do, I'm building the Giant Cock of Giza.
Ffs...

Around Christmas break and into Jan there were loads of people around.
I guess these things ebb and flow.
But seriously, lol, you don't have to send a formal letter of complaint...
Just come back in a few weeks or months and maybe it'll be flowing again.
It is fun when people are around.

god dammit kolya i explained why there were no monsters
Craftbukkit NO LONGER WORKS -- when the server is using it, nobody is able to log in. Until Avante gets around to using a proper working version, we're stuck on vanilla, and that means no monsters. If it weren't for creepers it'd be different, but environment damage is not fun -- it's griefing. Without a plugin to disable creepers' effect on blocks, creepers are entirely too much of a hassle.

Yeah, you explained that. And I tell you that an empty multiplayer map without even monsters to entertain you is dead as bedrock. I don't mind creepers destroying parts of the scenery now and then. Keeps you on your toes and busy, you know?
Also they are good listeners once you've trapped one in a convenient place.

The real problem is that Minecraft itself is boring, even with monsters. So you either build 'til you're sick of it, or you spend endless hours looking through samey-looking caves until you're sick of it.
The proper Adventure Update and integrated mods will hopefully fix some of that.

Soooo....server's down.
:(
june gloom on 1/4/2012 at 06:56
No it's not. I did mention a new IP, did you update it?
Mr.Duck on 1/4/2012 at 07:10
Ah, I was using the last address you had on your first post of the thread. Mea culpa.
:)

So...
Nobody uses this much anymore do they? I've enough money to keep it running for one more month. If nobody's interested, I'll save the current world and take the whole thing down. If there's enough interest later on, I'll fire it up again around the holidays, 'cuz that's when it saw the most use.
