Well to be fair I find some of the best forums I have been on had a system where most of the users sorted out issues between themselves, and the moderators only stepped in when it got ugly. And honestly this forum is bloody great as far as flaming goes compared to the vast majority that I have experienced.

That's true. The main problem is I've been exposed far too long to those types of forums elsewhere and the general crappiness of current events has made me even more misanthropic than usual.
