I think Thief could really have potential in the right hands...for example...when Tomb Raider switched developers to Crystal Dynamics...they really turned the game around and made it awesome in my opinion....
so bottom line is...
They should continue the Thief series and i have an idea...
They should bring Thief back in a new trilogy...with a new story kind of like what was done with the Prince of Persia series from long ago that was recently brought backk
so what do you guys think...i think it could work...

I think the best chance the Thief games had after LGS was in Ion Storm's hands.

Nope. Thief is a really small and hardcore franchise and publishers would certainly not fund "a new trilogy" without altering the gameplay significantly to mainstream it and try to make big sellers.
The only chance to see a new real Thief game would be in the hands of a small developer employing people who worked on the original games, and as GBM said the best chance was Ion Storm Austin. And with what happened to the studio, I doubt Warren Spector would be interested in continuing in any way the Thief franchise. So the only chance left would be Irrational acquiring the rights over Thief and that won't happen.
I believe that the future of Thief is in the hands of the fans now (except the IP of course).

Great newbie-flaming deterrent post :D

It seems we now have an answer to the "Will there be another, 'will there be a Thief 4?' thread?" thread.

This thread merely reaffirms my belief that anytime you see a thread with "READ!" in the title... don't.

trfan518, your idea for another Thief game is... to include a story? Wow, nobody would have come up with this one. :D
Do you mind explaining this new trilogy storyline a bit? Include some weazen zombies, and I will read it.

Darn, I thought (from the thread title) that someone was proposing that players should read the books and scrolls in the OMs before asking questions here about stuff that's covered in the readables. :laff:

You did.

Meaning they would just totally f**k it up. As usual. :(
I'm playing TR Legend currently and have found myself wishing Lara could explore more areas. Have to keep reminding myself that it's a platform type of game. Graphics are great, though I'm afraid Thief has biased me regarding all other aspects of other games.
Does that make me a Thief-snob?

Geez, cut the guy some slack. "New Member" pretty much sums-up the fact that he isn't aware of the things you already know from the forums. He wasnt saying it should be like Prince of Persia or Tomb Raider (shiver), only that the revamping done to those for marketing purposes might be something a current developer might fall for--, er, I mean, embrace. :) And really, it's not all that bad of an idea, but yes, with the history of Thief, and the current less-than-intellectual environment for gaming, it doesn't have much of a chance of happening short of some gaming-guru-millionaire that loves Thief buying/starting his own company just so he can keep favorite games alive.
Always wanted to do that. :)
