Cynic,
I'd like to give you a precise answer (I know you knew I was going to say that).
The release date depends on various factors, the main one being our publisher. We are currently having discussions with a lot of publishers, so the release date will be clearer once we know who we work with.

The only thing that I can say about Arx right now is that I'm drooling like a dog. The screenshots and the movies... ahh. Can't wait for the release...go Raf go!

Sounds very good. I'm glad that someone has the guts to take on such an excellent concept.

Raf (and everyone at Arkane); the little I've seen of the game is truly beautiful. One of the screenshots in particular -- an area supported by a series of large pillars and decorated arches -- was quite breathtaking. My compliments to that designer. If you can develop the many other components of the game to the same level as the graphics, Arx will be absolutely outstanding. No doubt there's a great deal of work left to do, so my best wishes to the team!!
I'm very interested to find out how well the spell-casting method (which you share with forthcoming 'God game' "Black & White", incidentally) works out. That could really be a compelling new way to immerse yourself into a character, and while 'mouse gestures' aren't quite the same as hand gestures, the player is that much closer to 'physically casting' a spell, rather than simply picking it from a list. It sounds like the magic system is an adaption of Underworld's rune system, but if the recognition routines work well, it ought to be even faster to use.

I must dream ! Will Arx be the game I had always dream of ? after Ultima Underworld 1 ? and guys from Arkane really seem ready to make the best game ever seen (aren't gamers themselves ?)! They also seem attentive to the gamer communoty's opinion, as we can read on their site "Please, send your comments and suggestions about Arx at information@arkane-studios.com with 'suggestions' in the subject" !
