Huge congratulations to the winners. The results were very close indeed with only a very few votes separating the nominees. I'd like to thank Athalle and Stefan_Key for organising this and Athalle for her incredible generosity.

It's interesting that the #1 and #3 favorite FMs are from Eshaktaar, yet he is nowhere to be found in the list of winners for "Favorite Author." Bizarre, I feel like we need a recount.
Anyway - Athalle, thanks for organizing. It's nice to show some appreciation to all the great authors and dromeders.

I find that interesting too Mike, but I think it can be explained by the fact that "favorite author" is more than just "author of favorite mission". It has to do with personality, longevity, and quantity of total contributions. As great as OB and BT are, they're the only missions Renzo ever made aside from Keyhunt, and others like Gat, Lady R and DrK left more of a lasting impression as individuals on the community members than he did due to releasing more missions which were always of a high caliber and being active in the community for many years. Well, that's my take anyway; it's part of why I voted for Ominous Bequest for FM but Gaetane for author.

Yeah, I do get that. In the first round of voting, I cast votes for nicked and Haplo, primarily because they put out so many high quality missions over a long period of time. Same idea I guess. But when it came right down to it for me, when voting for my favorite author, I had to think to myself - if the last FM ever created was released tomorrow, who would you want the author to be? For me it was Eshaktaar.

The results are mostly well deserved (I say 'mostly' because that last guy got lucky :D). And thanks to everyone for organising the contest, and voting. I expected a slightly higher turnout, but 66 is quite fine... there is still life in the Thief community.
And just to coincide with the announcement, my new mission has entered beta today, so I promise I'll work for that prize. ;) By way of thanks, here is a complimentary screenshot:
