It seems difficult for you to comprehend that you're introducing an irrelevancy because
A: we're talking about someone who lies in the middle of that Venn Diagram.
B: I am criticizing not the abstract but people who try to mask one behavior by claiming another.
Either of those alone means that the existence of a "venn diagram" isn't the point. I'm going a step beyond that. We're not TALKING about people who are just "brutally honest", we're talking about a person who is falsely trying to conflate the two. People who are trying to claim they(or the person they like) is on one side of the diagram, when they actually belong on the other.
Ultimately, what we're talking about is just another form of rationalization. The same way that a corrupt politician is just "going along to get along", someone who chooses to engage in risky, self destructive behaviors is just "exploring their sexuality", a slaveholder was just "keeping them contained for their own good", a bombastic narcissistic douchebag is actually "confident", and Amway scam artists are "positive people teaching others to own their own businesses"
THOSE are examples of being brutally honest. Let's take a look at what is not an example of "brutally honest", despite however much those attitudes appeal to your narcissism
This is an example of what the OP ascribes to just "caring too much" and "being honest"
