"And one man in his time plays many parts." Peter O'Toole dead at 81. - by Nicker

I thought he might be immortal but he was only 81. Actor Peter O'Toole is dead.
Missed seven Oscars by a hair's breadth. One of the handsomest mugs to grace a stage or screen and all the chops to deserve being there.
Dim the Marquees, a minute of silence and five more for a curtain call! Bravo! Bravo!

I did enjoy his performances and he had a certain charm that always seemed sincere to me, like he was playing a version of himself. I think it was his eyes, they always reminded me of my youth.
RIP

I too thought he was a lot older.
81 is a good run and he left a good legacy.
Loved him as Priam in Troy and LoA remains one of the grandest films ever made.

A real shame and not just because of his great work in the past but because he was still delivering the goods. Venus and Dean Spanley are two fine films with equally fine O'Toole performances and I'd also rank his work in Ratatouille right up there too.

I think an honorary Oscar counts, which he won in 2003.
He was great, hammy at times, but even then in a great way.
Very genuine. And yes, those eyes...

My favourite movie of his is Murphy's War.
Saw a quote on the BBC news site "The only exercise I take is walking behind the coffins of friends who took exercise."
Great actor, great man.
