Thanks Dyald, I did get backoutside and fortunately I was in a place in my save where I hadn't triggered the other Bot that came through the hall after going in the other hallway, etc.
I have been inside several of the other buildings now and did get the Armory done :) However, the Police Station is giving me a headache and I know a key is supposed to be inside for the safe for the other building that I've already been in earlier.
Too many darn lights and City Watch going in and out. :( I just hate having to use precious water arrows. I sure wish I could have found gas arrows/mines!
You didn't say anything about Watcher switches? Yes I have been checking map...and thank you for taking the extra effort in that regard. :) I don't see how I'm going to get past some of these areas later...as again sooo many routes put me in light and shadows are at times in very small limited areas with large stretches in between...eeeeyaaah! :erg: I guess if I run into trouble I'll just have to come here again for more advice. :D
UPDATE:
I had gone into City Watch earlier but since I didn't find anything of real value other than another health potion, since I had to use it plus all my food I had found due to some sword fights I encountered, figured it wasn't worth the trouble later. I had been waiting here (took out the previous post in this section) to find out about the key for the safe but taking a hunch that the location was still the same as I had read about in a much earlier note... I first reloaded the one I had made after the entry into Station and went to check for key location indicated and found it was there. I then took that save out and reloaded an earlier one. Unfortuately, in the save I will use now I've already used three of my water arrows at Police station but figure I'm better off since I will probably need all the health I've got!
:D
If you could, please tell me about Watcher situation? Is there no switch. Is there more than one? I sure wish there would have been more light switches...the few I found so far didn't matter..where they were needed, none to use. LOL
dyald on 8/2/2007 at 00:51
The Fire Eater:
I hope I remember these right.
when you mention the key for the safe, do you mean the one where the rich guy blames the maid for stealing it? If so, he was in error because the key is locked accidently in the room just out side the living room but it only opens the door, you can pick the safe.
The police station has a few tools, some loot and a couple of clues but nothing that is imperative. there is nothing outside of the mansion that you must have to complete the mansion. the mansion is all self contained so to speak.
You didn't say anything about Watcher switches?
There is a room near the camera in the first hall with a gaurd patroling, sneak in behind the guard. look for a large set of controls you'll know it when you see it. that one is for the camera down stairs. if you find the passage in the ballroom, that one leads you to the third floor in a room that has a switch for the one there or when you get there via the elevator it's in the room on your right. depending on which level you are playing there may or may not be a guard in the doorway.
about the lights, I used hacklights at a negative in some corner, esp. in the big halls. so there might be a piece of shadow that if you get into just the right spot, you can hide, look for small shadows on the floor. (that may not be any help though. in the city watch, what I do is put out the lights in the reception room then ambush all the patroling cops then take my time with the rest.
I hope this helps

Help maybe? You bet it does! I guess you missed my info regarding the key as I explained above. I deleted the save I made after going into Police station but not before I went back to House and checked to see if the key was there. I found it but then quit, deleted that save and went to an earlier one to actually retrieve it.
Then on my way back to entry in basement I got curious about that ledge way up where you could shoot rope and went up finally. Explored a bit and saw a few things of interest...particularly
the Mansion on the East side where a Watcher/guard and two patroling servents are seen through opening in a room (assumed to be a guard station). Is that where I need to eventually find my sweetie? LOL At that point I decided to quit and reload my save from the point before I shot rope up...figuring I needed to get back inside the original way. Now from your tip about Watchers I think that was a good idea to do. Still need to find more loot...have somewhere around $900+a little.
Thank you Dyald for your kind help and perhaps can give a little more about Mansion accross yard, etc. ?
UPDATE:
Well it seems you've triggered the Bot to come inside where I throw the switch to shutoff Watcher huh? Not nice :( The first time, I got killed, second time I got hit but escaped only to have to eat all my foodstuffs and drink a potion. While debating what to do afterwards, computer shutdown on me again. As you've been reading my posts, yes I'm having problems. I think it has to do with my Vid cards overclocking program although I've not been using it to do so anymore, just using it's standard setting. Well anyway, now I've got to do some of this over again including shutting down switch as I didn't save it cause I wasn't sure what was going to happen. Now I know for sure...he comes in regardless of how quiet Iam. Well after I went back inside I went over to the dark side of the room to wait for Servant to BJ and sure enough while waiting there, that good ole bot came by and into that control room...but I decided to forgo that switch and left for Ballroom.
The Fire Eater on 8/2/2007 at 14:41
Please also read post above for more info. I didn't want to add another update so I've made this seperate. Please tell me:
Where is the location of secret switch upstairs in ballroom? I've gone around several times as best I can under the circumstances and it's a long way around creeping. I'm really getting worn out trying to search this area. I've tried looking at the map and I can't tell anything for sure from it. It seems I think on one side of a wall there's a space about halfway long that could be an indication of a tunnel maybe..but I haven't seen anything in that area to reveal a switch or whatever.
 Thank you.
dyald on 8/2/2007 at 21:33
The Fire Eater:
in the ballroom, have you tried cutting the banners?
if I got this right, the ledge you mentioned leads to a barracks area in the outer wall, there are some good tools and stuff in there.
Trere are four floors to the mansion, so there is still plenty of loot still in there, I usually get my loot objectine done around the pool room.
The bot you mentioned has a rather long patrol rout (if it is the one that sometimes goes into the ballroom) so if you wait under the watcher until it has moved on you should have little problem.
if you try to get in through the front door you had better be good, it can be done but is a royal female dog to do so. I advise you go in through the under ground and leave the front yard alone as you have done so far.
I think that covers everything. and here is a little advise , don't get rid of too many people out side, they come in handy later on, you'll see what I mean.:ebil:
The Fire Eater on 8/2/2007 at 21:52
Thank you very very much. So glad you found this now so I can get back to game as I shut down last night to await. :)
The bot you said comes into the Ballroom? No, I think you misunderstood the one I was referring to...that one goes into the Control Room. The other one in the Ballroom is stuck behind his post as a lamp seemingly traps it there, thank goodness. The third time I went to try for Control room, I went in the next room to wait for Servant...and when I got in that side that Bot gets triggered when I get to a certain point inside and he comes through...otherwise not until. I will watch to see if he also comes into Ballroom on his patrol, maybe he does that too?

You overlooked my inquiry about the other Mansion I spotted, which would have been opposite the main door entry point as there is another large door opposite that would lead inside to go there. Do I need to go there as well or is it just an option for perhaps more loot?
:) Hoping your still here....Have now added info to this question below as I discovered a bit more about this area later.
UPDATE: I guess I didn't get this followup reply to you before you left. Well I've covered quite a bit more since I last posted this one but I have another question...
Is the only way to get to the barracks area up that window ledge you have to rope up to as I tried doing earlier that I mentioned in another post? I can't see any way from this side of the Mansion. In regard to the question about Mansion above..heh...I see now that the elevator an ensuing exploration has brought me inside this part of the Mansion afterall. LOL However, I saw a rather strange sight when I went out on the balcony that is above Watcher below me.
I saw a character (could have been the guy that left the note in jail) running and trying to get out the main door that leads into hallway which on the other side is the other main door back into the city. The strange thing was...after a bit he dissappeared? Was that intentional as his note said he had locked himself in the library but door broken down so figured he got scarred and wanted to escape the maddness that has occured here, etc. So where he was..is somewhat the place I need to go to get to rooms over there...although I don't relish the idea of going upstairs where I saw at least 3/4 guards in their barracks room. :( I also haven't seen hide nor hair of the chapel? I now have about 1900 roughly and I need to find at least 150 +/- still. Can't understand since there is apparently a lot I haven't found according to the Max amount that's supposed to be around? I saw your small list above...but the only two things that I can figure where I can find it..would be the fountain outside (few coins) and the picture in Chapel where the two Hammers guard the big door outside. If that's the Chapel you referenced, unless there's some secret way inside, no way can I get past them or around them. After getting somewhat close to them in my earlier travels outside...just the slightest sight of me and I'm on the run.
I suppose the only way to get a gas arrow is inside the Barracks or maybe you put one in the City Watch Station? In all my searching which has been pretty extensive now, I haven't found one or even gas mine? I only have explosive mine and three fire arrows, etc If I have to rope up to that outside window...that would mean I would have to go back outside again for the third time :( Perhaps...I'll find some other places to rob on the top floor unless it only takes me to the room where my sweetie is?. That wouldn't help me out then. By the way, I've been in and through all the other floors now too including below kitchen all servants quarters, etc. Show me the MONEY! :D
Thank you again for your patience and helping me try to get through this...and yes I know there's a lot of excitement in store ahead and know I need to get loot in hand first before rescue. ;)

The Fire Eater:
Just a note, I usually check my mes. once a day, some times I'm bored and may do it more and sometimes I skip a day. and if I skip a question it could be that I didn't understand the question or I could tell that you are near to finding out yourself.
Niether bot is supposed to go into the ballroom its just that sometimes one may take a shortcut on it's own. I'm not sure what you mean by the other mansion. if you get into the wall area( past the guards with the conv.) the door on the left goes to the barracks. I don't have a clue who the running man was.
There is a gas mine in the building next to the police station.
At the chaple if you can sneak to the open door, on the left, is a small shadow that will hide you, stand there, shoot a moss arrow into the foyer, and knock out the second guard that comes through, hide the body then go back and wait in the same place for the other guard. (there is two) if you turn right, (most doors open by themselves.)crouch before going into the main chaple by the door is a light switch turn off the lights, then VERY slowly sneak up on the priest and ko him, take his gear key which can be used in another room. There is a switch hidden in the main chaple that opens a passage.(to leave something for you ;) )
Loot hints: did you get the gems from the guy who had his maid arrested? did you find the hotel room keys? some things that are not normally loot may be. there is a nice chunk of change under the chaple.
The Fire Eater on 9/2/2007 at 22:41
Well first let me answer, yes I found the diamonds, yes I found the hotel key.
I'm now confused about a few of your replies. I've been in the building left side of Police station as you look facing the station. I found no gas mine and of course went up ladder. In addition, I guess your saying the only two ways to get to Barracks areas are either by rope into window up high or try to get to the two guards at the Main gate on the street. Otherwise no other way, so I'd have to get back outside again. :(
I have been upstairs now a bit on 4th floor...that's the Chapel I believe that has been actually referred to earlier...the other is the Hammerite/Mechanist(?) Church that you see on street level. So then your answer suggests that you've got one infused with the other to me? I've bj'd the Servant up there and turned off the light...I can see a Priest facing front to me at the Alter, a couple of gold candles and four torches inside with a curtain behind him. I did not go in yet...
As far as the Church on street level, that's where I said I cannot get to Hammers(?) as they are hard to approach and have sent me running away a couple of times earlier. So inside the Church is where you said there are also two guards that patrol? So that we're on the same page...the Church on street level is the only place that sounds like where you can possibly go below I believe...that would be where I found earlier the first "special creature" you created. Of course I saw that area earlier from my entry down thru the tunnels. I did not go down to it's level so it's still there and whatever else you might have put there. Is that what you were leaving for me to find? :D This gameplay is kindof getting a little sticky for me.
I explained above...that the "other" Mansion I thought there was is when I had been down in the halls from the entry into the roped up window and scouted around a little..turned out to be part of the whole Mansion as I discovered later when going up elevator and inside to see accross the yard from the balcony, the empty guard post that I had looked through to see it originally from. Rather than apparently you scanning my post instead of reading more carefully, I've tried to explain what I had done when after I first asked the question and then later told you why I thought what I did about it perhaps being a second mansion, etc. I know my messages are long, but I've tried very hard to explain myself so you could get a better picture of my progress. :) I ended up deleting that save so I could get back outside where I had my last save at that time to re-enter through the tunnel and go back inside to continue from there. I hope that clears things up better for you now? :)
So the bottom line is for me to go back outside again in the meatime, while I wait for your next reply. Eeeeyaahh! :D I hope you realize how much I appreciate your responses even though I also get confused about some of it. LOL
HERE'S ANOTHER UPDATE :D Well I got outside to the main gate where the two guards are and guess what? This is too much...the guy (Servant) I saw running at the other gate and disappeared...he's now on this side trying to get back through the city side gate now? Really weird....? So now I can't get to the guard(s) there until he leaves/disappears again? :D LATER YET: I tried using a noise arrow to get them away from the gate but I failed in the overall attempt so I gave up that idea and went back to the Police station.
I managed to get the two patrolling cops and went upstairs. One cop inside I had to kill (used my bow) but nothing there. The other room with a cop I ended up putting out torch and got health potion then BJ'd him just because. I got a few coins in one of the other rooms and back outside safely. I scouted around a bit more and remembered something was said about one ledge you could mantle up and found it. Got the purse inside from skellie and made my quota. However, a purse that I thought I snatched earlier from one of the girls from the hotel I found that she still had it? So now I have more than I needed :) I also was under the impression I needed 2K ILO 1900? So now comes the biggest challenge...get girl and evade baddies...hope I can do it without dying (at least not too many times).
dyald on 11/2/2007 at 02:01
sorry about the confusion, I haven't been in that mission for over a year. But it sounds like you deciphered my last post acurately:) .
There is a lot in the fm that is for story only. BTW did you get the skygem?
I also was under the impression I needed 2K ILO 1900?
in that building next to the cop shop on the top floor, move the rotten crate near the window and behind it is a hole in the wall that has the mine( down low).
in the tunnels, there is a tiara in the pool, and a gem in that room the creature goes down into, there is also an elevator near there that takes you up into the church (all metal floors in the church). but that way may be too dangerous. there is also some story info in the church.
The best way into the barracks is through the window like you tried before, there is one guard that patrols, if you hide in a corner until he comes by, ko him before going up. once up then put our the lights that are nearest the stairs, while you are still in the stairwell, then you should be able to sneak up on the guards that are standing around and get the stuff in the footlockers.
I don't know what is going on with that servant, maybe he is trying to run to a flee point and got lost?
You will need a bunch of moss arrows in the top of the mansion, and the way it plays out will probably agrivate the stuff out of you. and if you are playing on the hardest level then you might want to save a landmine for a bot that is in the last room. ( A note; there is a very large difference in the playing levels, the easiest is much easier and the hardest will give the best thief player a challenge, (I always had a problem with the difference in levels only being your life level.)
Those creatures have similar weaknesses as the zombies and if you can sneak up on them from behind, a backstab will kill them (flashbombs do not daze them but will cause them a bunch of damage and will sometimes kill them outright (I think:erm: ) they are kind of easy to slip past too, if it is dark.
By the way, Skygem isn't anywhere near this confusing.
sorry if I left any thing out, I'm not really experianced in things like forums, chat, email. so I do not always know ediquette and slang, and my spelling sucks.
The Fire Eater on 12/2/2007 at 00:26
LOL...ok...we're both trying very hard to understand one another and no problem to send additional more info as needed. That's what this board is for anyway, plus added experience in writing. :D
Yes, I got SGem before I actually got quest for it...which made that one turn out OK. Also again, I'm playing "Hard" mode. The bldg. next to Police, I found that hole long ago and no it wasn't gas mine but now I can't remember what I did find instead of. I do know that the explosive mine I have was in armory and I have only one of those.
When I left forum the other day and said I was going to do some more searching..I went back up to 4th floor again after leaving city, left Barracks alone as well as Church. In the Chapel, managed to put out the four torches with the aid of one more moss arrow just inside from door in direction of the pews so I could run over from door to hide behind to put out last torch, the other three where done from the hallway. So now I've got the two candles from alter and saved before going around. Guess I'll need another moss arrow for wooden ramp leading to Servant there (thought it was a priest earlier). I do hear someone kindof singing (I think) behind curtain and more lighting to deal with.
Yes, I'm aware of conversation/trap as I've had to read this thread for help. Also while I think of it...I've been in swim pool area, no tiara in the pool there?...think there was something small on a table(?) but nothing in water nor in the back room. Really doesn't matter in that dept. as I'm not a total loot finder type player. ;)
So I guess now again, it's time for me to try and get further inside beyond Chapel area, etc. I'll most likely need to come back for help later if I run into too much trouble. Thank you and C'ya later.
