The Fire Eater:
just hit all the buttons when you get out, the others do nothing.
That main door, where the gaurds talk about the barron, goes into the wall around the mansion, there is a lever on on the opposite wall that opens the gate to the courtyard. The main door to the mansion is heavily guarded and is not the best way in. So, there is no false door, it sounds like you just missed the lever that opens the second gate. EDIT:
Yes, I did see it..but figured it wasn't the best way to go either for the same basic reasons you said :D
f you go in through the window, why not leave the same way? EDIT:
Cause I didn't want to fall and break my neck! I cannot climb back down a rope arrow from a ledge like that. The only way I manage that is like the way you are able to in Masks. With cross beams where you can jump over to one. There is a passage that you have probably found that goes into the tunnel very near the window. the switch for it is under a wine bottle in the street. the passage is the one where you get into the mansion. EDIT:
Yes that was the way I kept getting in and out when I realized I needed to go back into the Village to get more loot and find stuff I had missed earlier..remember I spoke about that before in my posts. ;)
I just remembered that I took the gas arrow out because you could use it to knock out Talanvor and that would mess every thing up.
LOL, well in that case maybe you should have put in two! Afterall, it wouldn't kill him...just knock him unconscious for a bit. Then later when we were gone...he could have just become conscious again for the next adventure. It could have worked story wise that way too..perhaps? Just a thought.

You're right, but he is the key to a lot of links that get other things to work in the things that happen, like leaving the key, and then there is the beasts...

Just got round to playing this one.
Great mission, but I have a problem at the end....
I'm in the cage and I get the speech - the guy leaves the key Ok and a new button appears on the console. But.... the metal plate isn't moving downwards and none of the buttons have any effect on the girl.
I've tried loading different saves, but no luck.
Any ideas?:(

For some reason, the way that plays out in the end doesn't always work and I never did find the prob, but it does work most of the time.

I hope someone still remembers some details about this mission.
How do I get into the Hammerite/Mechanist temple?
How do I get into the mansion? The heavy guarded entrance obviously isn't the way to go...

Concerning the temple, I don't remember. What I remember vaguely is that I entered some cellar and used an elevator to enter a building that was otherwise inaccessible, but I think that was a tavern.
To enter the mansion, I'm fairly sure you have two or three options (including the front gate). One is a secret entrance not too far from the entrance. I think you have to go left if you face the entrance. You should find a large crate there, and there is some button or lever behind it or at least close to it. This should open the secret passageway into the mansion.
If that does not work... It could be possible to enter via the front gate if you first draw the guards' attention towards you, run away, then get rid of them somewhere in the town. Once the pursuers don't know where you are anymore, run towards the front gate, and maybe there's no one there anymore.
But figuring out the way to open the secret passage certainly is safer.
