They're just saying the ideal time for someone to die is in the twilight of their life, when they've actually exhausted their available time among the living and death is inevitable. Yes, his true "time" was this past weekend, but it shouldn't have to be.
Or maybe they don't mean that. I just pulled it all out from my behind.

That is what they mean.

My condolences to the loved ones of Mr. Walker.
I don't mean to deny the personal tragedy here... but... I drove a transit night-shift for many years and just about every weekend there would be an overpowered sports car of some description, wrapped around a bridge abutment or worse, welded with another vehicle.
I have seen plenty of wrecks which occurred at highway speeds. They are messy enough, but it didn't require any expertise in collision investigation (which I do actually possess) to tell when they were the result of excessive speed. One time I thought it was a motorcycle wreck but it was a car torn in half. Thankfully a single vehicle collision (these are not accidents).
I know Walker was just the passenger and police say they were not racing but they were in an overpowered car on a notorious drag and driving excessively fast. Perhaps it is unfair but I can't imagine that Walker was coaching his friend, who was the owner of a sports car dealership, to drive his Porsche at the posted speed limit.
I wonder how many other young lives were cut short or altered forever from emulating the glorified criminal driving found in movies like the FaF franchise. People who use the roads for transportation and not thrill seeking, live in justifiable fear of those sort of destructive behaviours.
Perhaps now that they have personally reaped the fruit of their labours the FaF franchise will rethink its message. Of course that's not likely. Anyway the thirst for adrenaline fueled risk taking, and the sanctifying of celebrities who profit from it, will remain as long as there are young men, fast cars and body bags. Walker will not be a martyr for responsible driving habits, unfortunately.
Walker's celebrity does not elevate his death to some sort of poetry. There is no honour in the fact that he died doing what he loved. He was not some sort of hero. He was just a victim of his own culture and a celebrity.

When I die, I hope someone will post a thread about me and say I was just a victim of bad taste.

It's nice not being the Forum Villain for a day.

When's your cape back from the dry cleaner?
june gloom on 4/12/2013 at 18:33
Oh, I don't wear a cape. Who the fuck do you think I am, Goldmoon Dawn?
Thirith on 4/12/2013 at 18:50
Nah, faetal, his luxurious Snidely Whiplash moustache does all the heavy lifting. A cape would be overkill.
