It really would be nice to see ANYTHING at this point. Its been so many years since the game was actually announced that I keep forgetting that it's being made.
Hopefully the trailer will be at E3 this year.

Hate to be the doomsayer here, but at the rate EM seems to be losing/firing so many people from the T4 project (and placing ads for new talent), I don't think we'll be seeing/hearing anything on T4 any time soon.
Sucks.
Boxsmith on 26/3/2012 at 20:53
Yeah, they're firing people at the astounding rate of what -- two thirds of a person per year?
Dia on 26/3/2012 at 21:16
Guess I misspoke. It just seems we no sooner gain an EM contact/rep, blink, then he's gone, whether due to his leaving EM or just maintaining an ominous silence here in TTLG. Considering all the hype/media coverage that DX:HR received before its release, the lack of even a hint or a whisper from anyone at EM re: T4 is discouraging. Discovering that EM is still posting job openings for positions for T4 develpment is also rather discouraging as it's already been a few years now since T4 was 'officially' announced & you'd think they'd be nearly done with the development and close to release, not still hiring devs & an audio director. It's been far too long since we've heard anything encouraging about the damned game directly from EM.
Just sayin' is all.

DX:HR didn't do too bad, eh? So in theory, everything EM was doing at that point should have been greenlighted with free reign over the project and a production machine in full working order. So it didn't happen. Now, Mario Aguera being replaced by Stéphane Roy doesn't mean much by itself since it's just replacing someone who worked on shit games before with someone else who worked on shit games before. What it tells though, along with the fact that they're still hiring key people, is that they've gone through several design templates and experiments and someone's not been happy with it.
They're struggling with a lack of vision, and Paul's departure may also very well be a sign of that. Choosing not to disclose anything about the game is probably the wisest thing to do when you don't even know yourself what that game is exactly.
At any rate, the only people from EM that were ever willing to communicate seriously with the community, be it here or over at the Eidos forums, namely René and Paul, are now gone. This is not going to help with the current worries and feelings of abandon.
New Horizon on 27/3/2012 at 02:03
The Eidos forums are certainly not the welcoming place they once were. Intentional or not, the attitudes and lack of community relations have pushed a lot of long time fans away. I myself was so sickened by it all that I left and told them to delete my account. I became a member there quite some time before Thief 2 was released....leaving was not an easy decision, but I preferred to the alternative.
If they gave a lick about the long time fan base, they would have quickly reconsidered that stupid Thi4f logo and replaced it with a logo in the same font that simply said, "Thief". How hard would that have been?
Blue Sky on 28/3/2012 at 10:22
Which fans are they supposed to listen to, though? For example, I don't mind that Thi4f logo. I've grown quite fond of it, even!
It is sad and frustrating that they can't/won't say anything at all, however non-specific. Even just a "we can't tell you what we're working on, but we think it's going great, hooray!" type posts would feel like there's some kind of community interaction.
Dia on 28/3/2012 at 12:31
I'd gladly forgive EM's lack of community interaction if I could just see even a little one-liner given by a T4 dev (who's still currently employed at EM, of course). Just a 'T4 lives and is doing well' would satisfy me at this point.

Tell me about it. It sucks to be a Thief and Half-Life fan sometimes.
