At least they're hiring.
jtr7 on 28/3/2012 at 21:54
No doubt they have the Catch Up process for new hires streamlined with all the practice they've been getting, to quickly get 'em on the same page.

Which fans are they supposed to listen to, though? For example, I don't mind that Thi4f logo. I've grown quite fond of it, even!
And then there are those of us who don't get butt-hurt over a temporary video game logo years before the game is released.

"the sky isn't falling"
"butt-hurt"
Don't be "hysterical."
See if y'all can post against hyperbole without using hyperbole.
"temporary...logo" <--- You really think that's what's causing the concern? Really?

The Eidos forums are certainly not the welcoming place they once were.
As opposed to the 'one post a week', 'let's all jump on the casual fans' love-in that is the TTLG forums?
The only difference between the TTLG Thief forums and the Thief 4 forums?
The Thief 4 forums have moderators that actually do their job.
You've got raving pricks like ZylonBane telling new fans to gargle with bleach... and you're going to actually pretend that the Thief 4 forums are more hostile? Seriously?

How awesome would it have been if the original TTLG team still owned the rights to Thief. They could've put it up on Kickstarter and finance their own Thief 4. And, dare I say, make it the 'proper way'.

Now, Mario Aguera being replaced by Stéphane Roy doesn't mean much by itself since it's just replacing someone who worked on shit games before with someone else who worked on shit games before. What it tells though, along with the fact that they're still hiring key people, is that they've gone through several design templates and experiments and someone's not been happy with it.
Exactly true.
This does not bode well for the future outcome of THI4F...For when the foundation is weak and the builders are confused from lack of vision and direction, it is likely that they will become desperate and eventually settle on a misguided, uninspired design...just to complete the project...:nono:

The Eidos forums are certainly not the welcoming place they once were. Intentional or not, the attitudes and lack of community relations have pushed a lot of long time fans away. I myself was so sickened by it all that I left and told them to delete my account. I became a member there quite some time before Thief 2 was released....leaving was not an easy decision, but I preferred it to the alternative.
Yes...you were part of that big blowout back in January...the "J-12 blowout", if you will. Many of its' most prominent members left in disgust after being subject to an unfriendly amount of censorship, and cold, uncaring relations with the community.

If they gave a lick about the long time fan base, they would have quickly reconsidered that stupid Thi4f logo and replaced it with a logo in the same font that simply said, "Thief". How hard would that have been?
After 3 years of community outcry against such a travesty, their callous disregard speaks for itself...and this has left a negative and dubious impression with most fans...:(

And then there is most of the community, who appropriately reject a mockery when they see it...temporary or not.

In your wisdom, you decide to insult the mods at TTLG by insisting that they're all incompetent, whilst saying in same breath that they should censor comments like the one you've just made...Congratulations, you have successfully canceled yourself out with your own hypocrisy.
Please refrain from slandering intelligent and respected members by taking their comments out of context. Doing so will not help your cause of censorship, which you so foolishly defend at the expense of liberty.

How do you take a comment like "Your texture pack looks awful and you should feel bad for making it" out of context? That's 'an intelligent and respected member of the community'? If so, you
deserve the incestuous circle-jerk of mounting irrelevance that you've assembled here.
And how was my comment an 'attack'? He makes a habit of attacking new arrivals and demeaning their opinions. I called him a prick (and I suspect it's not the first time that observation's been made) which is far more benign than the insults he hurls at new arrivals. If he delivered mail, I'd call him a mail man. This isn't fresh and exciting information. A moderator's job is to preclude that from happening. But the guy makes a few ugly texture packs for System Shock 2 and suddenly he's the messiah, because of the ceaseless nepotism of the TTLG 'pecking order'.

As a very specific and religiously followed rule, I try VERY HARD to stay out of these types of discussions, but ....You can NOT be serious. "prick" is being very, very kind.
