As opposed to the 'one post a week', 'let's all jump on the casual fans' love-in that is the TTLG forums?
The only difference between the TTLG Thief forums and the Thief 4 forums?
The Thief 4 forums have moderators that actually do their job.
You've got raving pricks like ZylonBane telling new fans to gargle with bleach... and you're going to actually pretend that the Thief 4 forums are more hostile? Seriously?
I said nothing of 'hostility', it's the inconsistent 'open to interpretation' moderating tactics over there that have made it unwelcoming. I'm not going to name names but one moderator in particular often 'interprets' a postings or rules in some rather creative ways to justify deletions or warnings. That's why I asked them to delete my account and will never return. I had posts deleted over there that supposedly violated TOS, when they clearly did not...at least not without being creative. On TTLG I have had a couple of warnings over the years, but very few, and the mods here were totally justified in their actions for every one.

But the guy makes a few ugly texture packs for System Shock 2 and suddenly he's the messiah, because of the ceaseless nepotism of the TTLG 'pecking order'.
Not sure where you've been, but the Mods have banned Zylonbane before.

How do you take a comment like "Your texture pack looks awful and you should feel bad for making it" out of context?
Golly gosh, Cap'n, who said that? And by "that", I of course mean the exact, literal text that you put inside them thar fancy quotation marks.

'Nepotism'? I highly doubt any of us are actually related.
Well, except through marriage. And even then I'm only married to 3 or 4 of the guys here, so I don't think 'nepotism' really applies.
Unless someone has gone and changed the definition of the word and didn't tell me about it. I hate it when that happens. I mean, look what they did to 'nimrod'.
Srsly.

I'm shocked Dia. You really ought to know whether it's 3 or 4. Now all of them are going to be wondering - too cruel!
Dia on 31/3/2012 at 12:46
You're so right, nickie. My bad. It's actually 5.
I wasn't counting the two I keep out in the shed.
:o

Ah, so its a shed! :p

Where do I sign up for this harem?

You didn't read the thread title. It's only a rumour. However, I think it's my public duty to at least check it out and maybe liberate the 2 in the shed.
On second thoughts, as it's Dia, they probably wouldn't want liberating.

Nepotism actually entails any favoritism directed toward anyone because of either a familial connection or simply a strong personal relationship.
