I recently played the demo of this game and it seems pretty good... sort of like a predecessor to Deus Ex. It is based on the Doom engine, but it has conversations/multiple choices/solutions to problems. The only complaint I have is that the levels are... well... boxy! I know that this is a limitation of the Doom engine, and I am no graphics fanatic, but slanted surfaces just add to the immersion of a 3D game. :)

I found Strife to be an outstanding game. Definitely worth playing.

Hell yes. Strife is superb! I've always maintained that it was easily the best use the Doom engine was ever put to. Those "boxy" levels put every other Doom engine game's levels to shame, I might add :) None of them came close to representing believable places as well as Strife did.
Note that some of the Doom source ports* managed to figure out how to deal with Strife (despite Strife's source never getting a release), which makes it nicer to play.
Enjoy!
(*) Vavoom gets credit for being first, and ZDoom followed. Others may have added support as well by now?

Yea I remember thoroughly enjoying Strife back in the day. I was pretty impressed with it's open maps(you could say it was a precursor to open-world sandbox games). The plot was quite cool too. I recommend it if you want a fun shooter.

Yeah, I wrote about it recently. I played it ~ 6 months ago, and was cool with it, but it seems amateurish in parts and just didn't age well at all. It sounds great on paper, but just isn't all that.

Am I having deja vu or was there another occasion when someone mentioned Strife and you gave the exact same response?
And for the record, I don't know why all the strife hate, it was pretty rad given the tech and the time.
