"The Future of Shooters is RPGs" says... CliffyB - by van HellSing

As an interesting side note, Cliff was touting Gears of War as "the game he's always wanted to make" and such, referring to it as a tactical survival horror game.
In the end it was none of those. It was just a straight up shooter. A good one, mind you, but still stuck in its genre.

It's not a
bad game by any means and is actually quite good. The story and atmosphere, at least, are great. You can't tell me Fort Frolic/Sander Cohen isn't
at least as creepy as SS2's Recreation deck.
Actually, yes I can.
While Fort Frolic certainly had its moments (the creepy ballerinas/manikins come to mind), it wasn't nearly as consistent in its sense of dread as some of the best levels in SS2. Mostly, I just enjoyed it for its novelty and great presentation.

I want to take the ears off, but I can't. I hop, and when I hop, I never get off the ground. It's my curse, my eternal curse! I want to take the ears off but I can't! It's my curse! It's my fucking curse! I want to take the ears off! Please! Take them off! Please!

Bioshock sold well not because of the plasmids or other gimmicks, it sold because of clever hype. It was everywhere, but every preview still mentioned how it's this completely awesome edgy game no one ever heard about.
So it wasn't possibly because it was actually a fantastic game? No?

Wrong forum to be asking that question in, mate. But you already know that.

To bastardise a quote by that New Scientist guy
"Bioshock is awesome, and if you disagree you can fuck off!"

Which happens first:
You buy a game
or
You play a game

meh, just tired of all the hate. Being disappointed is one thing but it really is getting very NMA around here.

There's the whole emotional angle and the Levine string-along song that choruses in most woesome plaints that echo in these here forums. Wearisome still yet, though justified they may be.
To be frank, I quite liked the game. Not as much as SS2, but I enjoyed it, it was worthy of my USD 60, whatever. I'm just reminding you that it's a good idea not to wake up the choir again.
