"The Rebellion of the Builder" Mar. 29/06 - by GORT

I'm stuck in mission 3. I've got the
advanced lockpick,
the golden hammer from the hammerite church, entered the mechanish church, went in the library and found the left wing key. I got the golden mace as well by putting a regular mace on the pressure plate it sat on, so no trap or anything have been set off, and I have no objective to do so. I cannot go unlock the door to the Hall of Angels room, the door up the stairs from the room with the music box, the door to the Mechanist Main Church, or the locked door in the bar. Where should I go from here? Is this the mission with
the other two lockpicks?
If so, where are they? Does the button in the mechanist library do anything? What about the bookshelf in that library that I can hear a wooden sound when I hit it with my sword?

Wow, that's quite a package of questions. Well here we go then.
This is not the mission with the two additional lockpicks. And the invisible button in the library is nothing you'll need to worry about. The Hall of Angles room is no longer of any importance to you, since you already got the mace.
Now then, did you find the low gravity room and in sequence the high gravity room? There is a chest with an important key in it. Also, there is a switch in the high priests room which switches off a poisonous gas trap somewhere else in the church.

Thanks for the help. I have a question about mission 4 now:
Does the "no kill" bug affect the Man's World difficulty level? At the start of the mission, I only had the objective to foil the plot. I had to kill the two gaurds at the start, and now I see a don't kill anyone objective that has been crossed off, but the mission hasn't ended.
UPDATE: I found a secret by
shooting an arrow into a wall in the basement. Right after I collected the fire arrows there,
the mission suddenly ended in failure. So, I guess the answer is yes, the Man's World difficulty level is affected by this bug as well.
UPDATE 2: I started over and have found that even though I've killed no one, the objective gets crossed off and anytime I find a secret, the mission ends in failure.
Now I've got a problem. I can't open the door to the basement area where the broken machine is. I've tried all of my lock picks, but it won't open. What's strange though is that the first time I played this mission before restarting, this door wasn't locked.

Wow, that's new. Did you really restart the mission, or did you load a very early save? If it's the first case, try playing the mission for a short time, look into the objectives screen. If there is no crossed out "don't kill" objective, save and again play a short time. Repeat that, until the "don't kill" objective gets crossed out, then reload and try another aproach to the things you did after the last save. When you found an explanation for the bug you've encountered, post your findings here.

There is a
"basement key" for this door somewhere, I don't remember the location anymore though.

Well, I started over again, and thus far have not had that objective fail. I've even found a secret. However, I can't find this basement key. Where is it?

@WackyWacko
Found it again:
It's located in a room with several PCs on desks. Walk up the stairs behind door #2 enter the room and examine the floor.
I think this mission set is very vell done, also nice reuse of maps, and quality work. BUT! It's really depressing and dark/cold. I felt really scared in the role of Garrett, in a future city with wide and empty streets, agressive people (the barkeeper scared me to death), cube design, industrial and enormous. The passing planes reminded me of a WWII film. So, very vell done and gloomy, opressive.

Passing planes? :wot: I thought my FM was the only one with a plane in it! Nooooooooooo! :joke:
I've still yet to finish this FM, and others too, like John D's last FM. I've just been way too busy with beta testing and making new models. To top it all off, i've gone and started another FM! Oh woe is me! :p

Mystic Estate was just as frustrating and unfair this time around as it was the last time I played it. But I loved the rest of the missions. I think mission 3 was my all around favorite. Deliciously difficult but not unfair like Mystic estate. And I LOVE the modern setting. No, I wouldn't want to see this in every fan mission but it was great to play it in this one. Someone mentioned being reminded of Duke Nukem 3D and I laughed out loud because that's exactly what I thought. The resemblance is uncanny. I wonder if GORT used the same textures or something.
Anyway I'm stuck at the very very end. Just less than a minute from the end of the mission. I could just skip it I guess but you know how it is: I've gone this far and giving up now would be very unsatisfying. When I get onto the rooftop to get to the vortex it explodes and collapses and kills me. I can't reach the ladder in time and it's protected by a stream of fire arrows which kill me instantly anyway. So how am I supposed to get over to the vortex? If I had a speed potion I might be able to make it but I don't have one. Help!

Hee hee. Yah, those were from Duke Nukem 3D.:cheeky:
I'd figure it'll give it a good look.
About that building, you'll just have to
run like hell and get to that ladder. For best results, make sure where the ladder is. While running towards it, have your view looking upward. That way you'll climb the ladder fast enough to not get hurt.
