The guy has no more idea than we do, but he researched a shit load of Eidos CV's (posted as screencaps in the 2nd link) to come to a not unreasonable conclusion.
If nothing else, it is fascinating to see so many past and present Thief 4 team members CV's all on one place. Helps pass those rainy days until we get something official.

Online!=multiplayer. It can mean something like achievements (Squeenix is currently married to Steam) or stat uploading.

How are we supposed to purchase all the forthcoming DLC features (such as the Bow Upgrade?) if not with some quirky online micro-purchase management system?
Seriously though, DX:HR didn't have multiplayer features, I don't believe that T4 will either. Of course, EM can suprise us by including some co-op scenarios or whatever, but as mentioned here, "online" most likely means other things. Modern day consoles are packed with online features, games have to be made in a way that software updates and such can be downloaded and installed easily. Downloadable content, achievement/trophy sharing and such require some interface between the game and the online service so it's no suprise that T4 development requires fiddling with "online tools".

I don't know, "hiring staff" sounds like more than just making something steam compliant or creating achievements. Thievery was pretty popular for awhile, and T2 multi had it's day, I wouldn't be surprised if they tried incorporating some type of multiplayer into T4.
