Somehow this has slipped past me up until just the other day.

Apparently it will have a modernized engine with physics and Opengl 3.1 support. There will be two renderers, one for new computers and the classic renderer for folks with crappy systems. It isn't just a graphical mod though, the materials are being re-made and there will be gameplay changes. There will be few gameplay changes in the first release, but it will start to differ as time goes on.
Hopefully they're smart when it comes to gameplay changes. As someone who plays alien 90% of the time, I recognize that aliens win way to many of the games. However I think the changes made in GPP crossed the line and made aliens wimps.
For those who have never tried this game, it is a bit like Team Fortress, but with dynamic bases that can be built anywhere and aliens vs humans, rather than red vs blue. There is also a great strategy element. For example, you raid the enemy base, but one enemy builder (engineer-type character) escapes. He manages to reconstruct spawns for his buddies to rejoin the game, but YOU still have control over their power source. What do you do now? Do you hold it hostage, waiting for your teammates to rush the new base before destroying their power source? You can bet that if the enemy team has any brains at all, they'll send a builder to retrieve their power source.
Or do you destroy their power source immediately and just rush to try to finish the enemy team off?

Are we supposed to know what that is?

Not to be confused with Trenz which describes all the fly trends that Renzatic sports.
Use in a sentence: "Yeah I'm into all the latest trenz. Check out this Blender model."

Tremulous is similar to Savage and Natural Selection, minus the RTS commander component.

Anyone who's into the latest trenz would know I ain't gonna use no Blender unless I absolutely have to. Being into the latest trenz is about being snobby. And if you wanna be snobby, you gotta spend money.

I think the best solution for balance is to give the humans more capabilities, rather than weaken aliens. For example, some humans try and build a forward-base to push us back (which is a good idea). They set up repeaters in the hallway to provide power and then build turrets to keep us away... but I can just charge up the ramp, hop the turrets and smash the repeater, making the turrets inoperable. Its funny to watch the human builder turn in horror and run when something like this happens and he is now being chased by giant aliens.
Allow the humans to build more turrets and supply depots on a repeater away from their base, allow them to share medkits, and allow them to (... something else I've yet to come up with...). This should help keep them from getting backed into a corner all the time and then slowly defeated.
Edit: Give the repeaters more health so we can't smash them so quickly. That should do it.

I think this does ring a bell now that I think about it. It's kinda like Gloom and Natural Selection, yeah?
