A quick search brought up this page with some ideas (

Some are more of a sledgehammer than others. It's up to you to decide what level of security/convenience tradeoff you feel comfortable with.

I'm able to still choose to successfully download AL despite the warnings in both the Chrome and Brave (which is also Chromium-based) browsers under Windows 11 using only the built-in Defender AV. I've had these warnings with the past few AL versions but was always able to download them. Then after installing the new version I can run a Defender Scan of the entire AL folder (700+ files in my case) with it always finding "No current threats."
I love the new feature to display Tabs on the lower right next to the FM readme! This way I can leave it open/extended and still read the entire readme if needed, whereas at the top-right after using Tabs I had to close/unextend its window to see all the columns.
Thanks again Fen for creating and continually improving our wonderful Thief FM loader!

That says it all really: it warned you but it turned out there were no actual threats. It wasn't even warning you about a threat, it was literally just saying "Big Brother hasn't heard of this file so it's suspicious". That's not even a valid warning. "Suspicious" is supposed to mean you do something actually worthy of suspicion. Some random central authority not having heard of you does not constitute "suspicious".
So one may wonder, then, if nobody can download your file because nobody has downloaded your file, how can you get enough downloads for people to be able to download your file?
Well, you pay a ransom to have the authorities trust you, of course!
You buy a "code signing certificate" for hundreds of dollars a year, and then apparently - according to (
https://cheapsslsecurity.com/blog/ev-code-signing-vs-regular-code-signing/) this page - "[your app] is instantly trusted by Google, Mozilla, Microsoft, and all other major platforms and browsers, including Microsoft SmartScreen filter".
It's like an actual protection racket. And I sure as hell am not going to cough up the cash to have it done for a free app in any case. Not that I wouldn't feel sick to my stomach doing it even for a paid app.

Thanks :) I really should have thought of this right from the start, but it's funny how we get focused on something (in this case "looking like DarkLoader") that blinds us to easy improvements we could make. Ah well, better late than never!

(
https://github.com/FenPhoenix/AngelLoader/releases/download/v1.9.1/AngelLoader_v1.9.1_x64.zip)
AngelLoader v1.9.1 is out.
A hotfix for a couple of dark mode related bugs.
Fixes:* Fixed regression: In dark mode, the FM tabs' menus and other dropdowns were still light themed.
* Fixed: When the UI was disabled (eg. while scanning), and Follow System Theme was selected and the system theme changed from light to dark, the readme would get into a state where it was disabled and light themed, and would stay disabled permanently.

Any chance to pull user ratings for missions from thiefguild as a new optional column?

Hey Fen this is a great tool you have created many thanks!!!
One question is there a way to run an update instead of downloading the newest version and having to go through the setup process each time??

We'd need two things:
* An API for the site
* Some way to match up local FMs with site FMs even when their filenames or titles don't precisely match. Hash comparisons are no good because FMs can and have been repackaged, sometimes with a tweak to fm.ini or something, sometimes just re-zipped with different compression settings or whatnot.
There are other issues to consider as well, but with those I could at least implement a prototype.

Versions since 1.8.0 have had an in-app updater. If you go to
Settings -> Updates, you can turn on auto checking for updates every startup. Otherwise if you want to check manually you can go to
Main menu -> Check for updates...
