It would be great to read about the status or number of entries, I hope there will be some!

Very late comment, but I'm not a fan of "Best Use of Space" category. I know that based on theme this category makes sense, but it requires using DromEd to check and judge it. Since I don't know how to use DromEd and I don't know any technical stuff, I can't score this category and by default I am disqualified from voting. That's sad.

Why would it require going into dromed? If you find yourself thinking: “wow this mission feels rich and expansive- it's amazing this was achievable within the size confines!” That's a good use of space.

First of all I will not manage to notice if mission is using more than one million units, which would mean it broke rule. Also by just playing I will not notice if for example sky ceiling is too high above playing area, which would translate into a lot of space doing nothing. That way sky ceiling could be lower. That's also part of this category. Without any knowledge of DromEd I'm not able to do this king of measurements. I can only say if mission is big or not. That's all. As for richness, it could be part of design.

I assume the contest organizers will be checking the size of the missions submitted before they are released and disqualifying any that exceed the million units rule, I know they have checked criteria for previous contests, maybe one of the contest organizers could confirm this.

Like Fortuni said, it's not the player's job to audit adherence to the rules. My interpretation of the “use of space” category is that it is experiential- when playing the mission, was the experience one that screamed “tiny mission!” or did the mission create the impression of a much larger/more interesting area to explore?
If looking in dromed helps you make your assessment, sure- go ahead. But it's certainly not required.

It definitely doesn't require going in to DromEd to judge that category. Once you've played the contest submissions, it will be very obvious that some seem impossibly larger and fleshed out than others using the same amount of space.

For the record, I will be verifying that all of the contest entries meet the requirements. It would be strange if someone submitted something that didn't adhere to the size restriction, but if that's the case, I'll let everyone know.
"Best Use of Space" absolutely does not require using Dromed. Almost all of Komag's contests used this category for judging. It's really not a technical thing at all, it's subjective, so just use your best judgement and form an opinion based on how the mission felt to you.

I've heard from a few authors that are almost done with their missions, but they need a little more time, so I'm going to extend the deadline for the contest for exactly one week. I'll release the missions I have so far on January 1st, and any others I receive before January 7th will be released on the 8th.
I'm working on getting a voting page up as well, but that will not be available until all of the mission are released publicly.
