Actually, wouldn't simply looking down at your in-game body to see how shadowed you are be the most intuitive way to determine how hidden you are? Would a light gem even be necessary if you can gauge the play of light and shadow on your body just by glancing down a bit?
Unfortunately the game/Stonemarket City hub has a lot of not-so-easily-definable areas without sharp shadows as in the previous games, still they have contrast and you can see something in them, there is barely pitch black darkness to be found. It's there where you'd have a hard time to determine your visibility based on the body model alone. You can find my summary (

I'm genuinely surprised at that Facebook stuff. There really isn't a positive way to spin that, is there? I realize the dev team are human, but imagine some Square Enix big-shot seeing that. If it were me, I'd be beyond furious.
Indeed. As a fan, it stings a bit more. I am invested in this series. I
want nuThief to be good so I am active on the page but damn, it was disheartening to see EM take sides like that. What's a fan to think?

Good. B1skit was clearly not cut out for this kind of work. It's no easy being a CM, especially not when your game gets as much flak as NuThief did, but b1skit was simply bad at it.
B1skit, u dun SWOOPED

Not sorry to see him go, but I don't wish him ill or anything. He was clueless about Thief, imo; he never really came across as a real fan of the game. Best wishes, don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out and all that.
Next! .........
P.S. You gotta wonder about a game (and its developers) that in the course of its development has had such an unusually large number of employee departures. Curious.

To replace him, I think someone named, 'The Swooper' might do the trick. It'd be a more exciting moniker for a ramped up, high-voltage stealth game. Maybe even, 'The Popper Swooper'. That'll give the kiddies a good laugh.
... or maybe, 'Limp Bizcut'...sort of a tribute to fantastic-ness that was b1skit.

Any conspiracy theorists want to have a go at Adam leaving at the same time the Eidos Thief forum went down "for maintenance" and still hasn't come back up four days later?

It had been announced that a round of upgrades and maintenance were coming a few weeks ago. Highly doubt it's related. hehe

That is kind of weird though - what takes four days to upgrade? Especially for a major corporation with likely an extensive IT dept.

I expect they can't find which plug he pulled. ;)
You still on holiday?

They've got a lot of work to do...I'm just waiting to see all the happy NuThief fans and comments magically appear when it comes back online...:)
