Someone with more smarts than me will have to give it a go, though.
I remember reading a few months back about some guys who used the now free Microsoft Virtual Machine to get some old dos games to work.
Would TDP and TG work if somone installed Windows 98 in a virtual machine and ran the game in the virtual machine?
Like I said, I'm merely speculating and don't really have the smarts to figure that out.

I have Microsoft Virtual Machine installed, but as far as I know it doesn't allow any hardware acceleration. I even installed Thief Gold, but it was impossible to play.

Microsoft Virtual PC emulates a standard set if hardware and does not give you access to a 3D card, so no, running in a virtual machine, especially Virtual PC would give you no benefit over running the game natively.
