Oh man I just saw some 20 last minutes of (
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0486572/) The Dog Problem. Cutesie movie but really it was (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Impala_ss) the Impala SS that caught my eye! I'm no GM guy but if I had to pick a car from the company that would be it. How you can't just but love that big lump of texan steel. Being a FoMoCo kinda guy I had to go and search for some used (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercury_Marauder) Marauders. Does anyone (I guess our American friends mainly) here own any good rear driven V8 yachts? Crown Victorias, Grand Marqi, Road Masters, Caprices even?
I currently drive reluctantly a rusty -94 1.8 VW Vento with busted rear shocks and coils. It likes it's oil too. My slowly progressing project is the apple of my eye a V6 powered -82 (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Taunus) Ford Taunus.

If it weren't for your posting history, and the fact your links don't really coordinate, this'd look a lot like bot spam. But given that you're a real human I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.
I used to drive a giant Cadillac Eldorado I literally inherited from my grandparents. I named her Big Bad Voodoo Caddy. It was a sweet ride in every way a guy that age would have imagined. These days I get everywhere by public transportation, so no car anymore.

No the links were fine. What I meant by "didn't coordinate" was, if you had really been a bot, you'd think all the links would go to the same car manufacturer or have some kind of common denominator, and they didn't. You can change the links back to the sub-headings if you like.
BTW I wouldn't doubt there is a "happy banter" algorithm out there. It's all the rage these days.

I'll admit to being a bit of a closet car geek. I love the sound of a big engine, be it a V8, straight six or whatever.
Never understood the appeal of putting a V8 in something that handles like a whale whilst making way less than 100hp/litre though. But then, you should see what we pay for petrol.
Currently still loving my (

Inline Image:
http://www.zen80200.zen.co.uk/rocco.jpgI should point out that it's
parked in that field, and this was not the aftermath of some over eager cornering.

Petrol costs a fortune here as well. Why do you think I'm driving that piece of crap :) It wasn't as economical as I thought when I bought it though. 8,8 l/100km over nearly 14000km. That is 27,7 US MPG.
I just like those big ol' cars. I could afford to drive one only like the most sunny and not-rainy sunday afternoons :P I dislike turbo chargers (can live with super chargers) but granted you could (and maybe should) get more power from naturally aspirated 4.6 V8 than 302hp. The engine will last lifetimes more than some tuned-to-the-max one in comparison though.
And to demagogue:
Now I got it :) Went a little over my head the first time I guess.

I watch Top Gear and I'm not american, so I definitely qualify as a car expert.

I'm a car journalist but I'm working predominantly with European brands. I'm also an enthusiast for all decent movers, regardless of their origin.
Ironically, I was test-driving a Ram 1500 5.7 Hemi earlier this day.
Ulukai: that's a nice 'Rocco! I had a chance to drive the Scirocco R for a couple days and even though it guzzles gas no end, it's a marvellous ride for a FWD.

I don't think many places can top the UK for petrol prices. I'm sure there are some but compared to the USA our petrol is extortionate. Today I paid £1.46/L. That's about $2.3.
I like economy in a car (you'll laugh in a moment), and practicality too, but I'm a sucker for some of the American muscle cars, like Chargers, Mustangs, Cameros. They just look so meaty, and the older ones (60s/70s) are just such nice looking cars. I far prefer old Bumblebee to new in Transformers.
I'm also a fan of Japanese rice crispy racers though, it's just a shame that some of them are so damn ugly (looking at you Mitsu Impressia) when they carry so much power. I do like a powerful engine note. I drive a Mazda RX8 because I love the quirkyness of it, it's fast enough without being silly and yet handles like a dre-e-e-am (especially on small country roads) and actually has a lot of space for 4 people. And despite what you read; the fuel consumption isn't that bad if you drive it for economy. Of course, if you want to wang it around corners in lower gears down windy roads you'll be watching the fuel needle drop before your eyes, but meh, that's part of the point of it.

That comes out to $8.73 dollars a gallon. Jesus.
