Any coders in the Thief community willing to help make it run better on other OS's? - by lost_soul

I have been playing Thief in Linux with WINE for a number of years now, yet one problem still stands out. When you attempt to skip through a cut-scene, it can sometimes take 10 seconds (or more) to do so.
Thus, I was wondering: does anyone in the Thief community have the skills and the willingness to fix something like this? It seems like it should be simple, and I've seen some of the great things the community is capable of producing in the past. (Darkloader, anyone?)
To my knowledge, there is no workaround for this issue, short of disabling the movies or just watching them each time, without skipping them. It seems like this issue only effects dark engine games as well.
This would (probably) help the games run better on the Mac or BSD as well. I don't have one though and can't test to see if this issue exists there.

You can try CrossOver Games. It's a commercial, modified version of WINE for both Linux and OS X (Intel) and runs Thief I + II pretty fine - at least the OS X version. Thief III is still a bit buggy. I guess we had a couple of threads about this.

I just downloaded and tried Crossover Games Demo with the Thief Gold Demo and it had the same issue. There is a delay when you click to skip movies. I would be interested to know if the Mac folks have noticed any problems like this.
