Well if you're ok with third person games like Gears I'd guess you'd be ok with Lost Planet as well. I enjoyed that one a bit more than GoW. It has a grappling hook, gigant mechs, ridiculously oversized guns and generally more fluid and natural-feeling combat than GoW.
Here's (
a gameplay video) a gameplay video which gives you a pretty good idea of what it's like.
The only drawbacks are the quite weak story, and that about half of the game you spend in various mechs. The mech gameplay ain't bad but it doesn't quite have the charm of the on-foot bits.

I'd second Red Faction (the original) - very similar to Half Life, but with less monsters.
Red Faction was my first exposure to consolization. Designed for the limitations of the PS2, it's a half-baked Half-Life clone with terrible writing, terrible acting, terrible AI, terrible "stealth" sections, terrible vehicle physics, and a gimmicky engine that sacrificed basic functionality like dynamic lighting for the useless "GeoMod" technology.

I loved that game when I first played it a decade ago.

Funny: I tend to hate modern console fps games, but I loved the first Red Faction. Don't get me started on the sequel though. The only good part about that was the multiplayer, but Perfect Dark is still my favorite console FPS ever.

Not very well. Not very well at all.
Yup. This is my point. Anyone recommending this title isn't paying attention to his current specs.
Oh, and I second the rec. for Chaser.

Yeah, I didn't look at his CPU. That's an interesting GPU/CPU matchup . I was bottlenecking my AGP x1950 Pro with that CPU, I couldn't imagine running a 48xx on a single core.
It was good enough to run the first Stalker though, if that would float his boat.

I recently played Call of Juarez, which I thoroughly enjoyed, aside from a few stupid things in it. The setting was refreshing since I haven't played a wild west shooter since Outlaws, Ray is now one of my favourite video game characters ever, and let's face it, revolvers are just plain cool. It would definitely run on your rig too. I've got the second game now, but it feels more consoley and has the worst field of view I've ever seen in a game and I haven't found a way to increase it yet, so it's probably going to get left alone for a while.
Also I'd definitely recommend NOLF. While NOLF 2 is not without merit, they did balls up a lot of stuff in it and the first game is much better.
Also Serious Sam. I've never actually played it, but I'm sure I remember reading somewhere that a lot of people on TTLG recommend it.

Despite Melan specifically saying repeatedly he wasn't interested, hahahaha.
