If so, what mangas are you currently reading or what animes are you watching?

Not an otaku, but I read a lot of manga I guess.
Currently I'm trying out Battle Royale, which everybody probably knows because of the movie and the novel. The manga is as kitschy as the movie, but more in-depth (unfortunately the main bad guy isn't as interesting as in the movie - he's just a douchebag :P ). A super-fun read.
Also reading Otoyomegatari (the english title is A Bride's Story from what I've found). It's an interesting and superbly drawn drama about a married couple living in 19th century Turkey. The bride is 8 years older than the groom, which might sound creepy from a contemporary point of view, but isn't at all in this manga.
And I'm still faithful to Berserk, even though it went to sh!t a long time ago :( .
I don't watch much anime nowadays, but I'd like to check out the new Ghost in the Shell.

This thread is weirdly anachronistic.

I've got an otakus around the back. It's quite round and juicy.

Why ?
There used to be lots of threads about anime/manga here in Comm Chat back in the old days. Feels like this is the first one in a while.
So, there's a new Ghost In The Shell? Movie? Series?

Are you asking out of curiosity or looking for suggestions?
Last ones I watched were Attack on Titan, Dangan Ronpa: The Animation, Detective Conan, Stella Jogakuin Koutou-ka C3-bu, Kitakubu Katsudou Kiroku, The Devil Is a Part-Timer!, Cromartie High School, and Nichijou.
I usually don't read mangas.

It's a new series called Ghost in the Shell : Arise. It's supposed to be about Section 9's beginnings. Before it came out it was very controversial due to changes in character design etc., but when it launched, everyone changed their opinion. Apparently it's pretty awesome.
Here's a trailer:

Oooh, interesting! If I wasn't too lazy to seek out anything that doesn't appear on Netflix these days I'd check it out.

Other than the late night Saturday stuff on Cartoon Network, I'm currently working on Legend of the Galactic Heroes, an older series. A very long older series. It's more or less about an ongoing interstellar war and all of the politics that goes along with it, and is presented equally through the eyes of the many, many characters on all sides of the conflict. And both sides have both good and bad points. Shades of grey everywhere with a strong "war is hell" message, much like the Gundam shows. It's got somewhat of a historical docudrama feel to it, reminiscent of movies like Midway and Tora, Tora, Tora.
