--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I've played TDP, GOLD, and TMA for years. I learned a new trick tonight when I was reviewing some aspects of TMA.
In Shipping and Recieving on the South side of Building A where Porters Art gallery is there is a T shaped alley.
At the west end is a debris box and loading chute. To the south of that is a ladder to the catwalks above. As are all the ladders the bottom is to high above Garrett's head for him to reach.
If you mantel to the top of the stack of crates at the mouth of the short leg of the T you can jump to the ladder. The problem is that if you climb up you butt your head against the bottom of the landing.
However, if you use the A & D arrows you can move sideways around the ladder and when you are on the correct side, climb up.
I have often ended up on the 'backside' of a ladder and given up trying to climb it. This time I said "What the hell... If I fall off I'll start over" and it worked.

Yes to go against the general opinion, I really like the way ladders are handled in Thief (2), partly because of this.

Moving sideways around to the sides and back if space allows is a much desired continuation and one more thing to bring back. If they can improve getting on and off ladders quickly and quietly and set the up and down movement back to pre-TDS style, and bring back more types of ladders, not one vertical rail-ride, it'll be great. It was the closest the older games got to wall-climbing, and whatever they did for ladders in TMA should be what's expanded on. If there's something to grip with hands and feet, climbing should include sideways maneuvering. It should be like a child in the woods or playground, or how I used to climb up onto the roofs of strip malls using the plumbing and gas-lines up the back.
Shipping...and Receiving is quite the playground for training taffers in movement, only they often don't notice, too busy taffing. I love it when the games can still teach veteran players. :D

I'd like that aspect to be continued and I would like to have climbable trees and vines also. Some of the FMs do offer vines or trellises that can be climbed.
I would have liked to see it in the games.
