I like real chess more because you can spit the enemy in the eye.

Chess isn't boring when you actually invest in learning its strategy and tactics. And it's inexhaustible on that ... books and books and books. Same thing for Go (which I didn't expect at first). That's what makes them special as games. The only computer game that comes close is Civ, but even that has relatively straightforward strategy and it's the variety of situations that makes it interesting.
I don't give my chess pieces names, though, lol.
I am prone to narrative-style card games, though (and action-figure games when I was a kid).

Two identical sides with identical forces, only six different units, move or attack only, tiny area, no terrain, everything instantly kills everything, no fog of war, no morale, no exhaustion, supplies, resource system...

Someone remind me when Koki stopped even trying to pretend that he's not just trolling.

I'd rather have the corpses of a thousand video game mooks at my feet then make a thousand of them as friends.

I only play games that repeatedly tell me how smart I am, regardless of genre/immersion factor.

It's a little fun thinking, "Hmm, what should I do next?" but every time a game ends, win or lose, I'm left without a sense of fulfillment. Everything just feels so empty.
And again: wars of attrition are for pussies.
