I couldn't believe it ! There on one of the computers in the level set in the snow, was an email from TTLG's own Zylonbane complaining about the quality of the skin work ! Seems his 'constructive criticism' is not only limited to Thief:cheeky:

Aaaanyway, community members being referenced like this isn't all that uncommon, I would say.

IIRC, I've seen (http://www.ttlg.com/forums/member.php?u=10325) Zaphod's name crop up in VtM: Bloodlines, and (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_characters_in_the_Neverwinter_Nights_series#Sand) Sand, I believe, was a poster on the old Black Isle Studios boards. Then again, might just be coincidence.
