Yeah I know, most people probably couldn't bear to play Thief 4 long enough to actually reach the keep, and I can certainly understand why. The biggest disappointment for me towards the end of the game (after I got over the slew of other disappointments) was the "mission" titled "The Keep". There is the anticipation that we are about to play a massive mission, but when we finally get to the keep we find it under siege, and all we get is an elevator ride showing the scale of the building that we will never get to explore (Like Deus Ex Fema Corp but even more disappointing). The mission is just an elevator ride and a few corridors as the place is falling apart. Seems like there could be some inspiration there for a Fan mission, something to mitigate my disappointment :erg:

The entire game was like that, unfortunately. Amazing visual art style and virtually no game substance. Deus Ex on the other hand was at least a good game otherwise.

I had the same feeling when I played the bank mission in Thief 4 (I believe that was DLC, but was free for pre-orders). I was looking forward to an epic "First City Bank and Trust" style mission and got what was basically a two story house with a vault to explore. I could not have been more disappointed.
I don't believe I ever went back to Thief 4 after that. I also have not, to date, pre-ordered any other games because of this.
