Anyone want to join me in making a Thief Universe-inspired Flash card game? - by Gadget2006

So, does anyone have any good ideas about a Blue (Kurshok?) artifact that can be used as a Permanent?

Let's see, there's always the Crown, but that might be too hard to write an effect for. For a fort, The Sunken Citadel, have it pump up blue attribute creatures.
Edit: Or maybe Kurshok Hatchery, have it allow you to play a non-banding 10pt total or less creature as banding.

I don't know if it would relevant to the cause, but the Crown is the only Sentient Artifact that is protected by a deadly field. I don't know if the Ritual of the Root has to come into it. It sounds too complicated for this, eh?

Thanks for the suggestions, guys! Btw, I was thinking of implementing a card named "Ritual of the Root", but I could hardly think up what it could do. Any ideas?
Btw, a little report: I'm working on implementing the "Keeper Training" card (the one that allows the creature to wear an extra effect as if it were a fast effect) and coding its AI, it's taking a while but the results are very good already. :) The AI will be devilish with that card.
Dan has submitted some wonderful sounds for the game, so I'm also going to play with those and see how I can integrate them into the game. As soon as all that is done, Beta 5 will be submitted to the testers.

Have it play as an effect which drains power/toughness completely and at the end of the turn have it transfer to the opponents permanent zone and drain their LP to yours on, possibly, a 1d3 per turn. That could actually be rather devastating, still, if they took advantage of your creature being 0/0 it would probably balance things out. What do you think?

That could actually be a very serious threat to the game balance for one important reason - you can use it to deal tons of damage to your opponent and then the draining feature will just finish him off. Consider the following:
You have a creature (let's say, 3/3), Ritual of the Root (with the effect you suggested), Glyph of Backfire and Keeper Training. So...
1) You play 3/3 with Ritual of the Root. Your creature becomes 0/0, it can't deal any damage and it's very tempting to deal damage to it.
2) Let's say your opponent uses 6/6 + (+2/+2), aiming for 8 damage.
3) You play Keeper Training on your ex-3/3 creature and add Glyph of Backfire to it.
As a result the opponent, unless he has the Door Glyph card, gets 8 damage immediately + gets the Ritual of the Root permanent which, unless he's got a Glyph of Destruction handy, will probably deal at least around 2-6 damage before it can be remedied (and heal as much hp for the other player).
Once again, if the opponent senses threat of a Backfire trap (via Keeper Training) and he chooses not to block the 3/3-turned-to-0/0 at all (so he loses the chance to deal damage to the player), he still gets one of the most devastating permanent upkeep effects in the game until he can remedy it with a Glyph of Destruction.
It's a very powerful card indeed, and I'm not sure if I'm going to implement it in exactly that way...
Btw, speaking of devastating cards, here's another classic Gauntlet card that needs Thiefication (probably the most devastating that I can think of, due to the fact that it can't be countered and it deals quite a lot of irreversible damage):
<Your Name Suggestion Here ;)>
SORCERY
Ultimate, Indestructible. Deal 1d2 damage to stability of each Permanent in all players' permanent zones, then deal 1d2 damage to each player.
What do you think? Is there any Thiefish name you can suggest for it?

Indeed, quite right, having not played with the Keeper Training card yet I just thought "you can only have one effect card per creature" which would make the effect not quite so deadly. So lets see... you could tack on an anti-backfire effect to make it work or just have it play straight to your opponent. A name for that other card, hmmm, Rust Gas might work but I'm sure there's a better name out there somewhere. I'll think on it and get back to you.

The "Ritual of the Root" nullifies Pagan Energy Fields, thus a card put in play to add Leaf-Magic Protection on anything can be nullified.
In this line of thinking, have it nullify effects. A very useful card if someone plays a weak creature with Glyph of Backfire hoping to torch you with your own attack. I think this sounds way less crushing than my idea while still making the card very powerful. So how 'bout it Gadget?

That's awesome, that's exactly what I'm gonna do - thanks for the advice! :)

Great idea, jtr! :)
A little report: Keeper Training is done and the AI is decent; it still needs to be polished but it's good even as it is. Some tappable permanents will be implemented next after a short break (I'll have to stop for a few days due to some real life issues that need to be sorted out).
