Anyone want to join me in making a Thief Universe-inspired Flash card game? - by Gadget2006

A little progress report: despite the fact that I can't code anything serious or brand new at the moment due to some real life issues, I've made some improvements to the AI and fixed a few serious bugs today. Hopefully Beta 5 will be ready by the end of the week. I'll keep you posted. ;)

Sorry for disappearing for a while, guys, looks like the break from coding Gauntlet will have to be a little longer than I expected due to objective reasons. I'm just reporting that I haven't abandoned the project (no way I'm doing that!) and that I haven't forgotten about you, guys! :) The game is progressing but very slowly; the pace will hopefully pick up in a couple weeks or so when I finally get my deserved break from work. By the way, I'm slowly working on integrating those new sounds into the game, Dan! They are great! Can't wait to see more of your work. :)

Thanks for keeping us in the loop Gadget!

No worries, Gadget! A little update like this once in awhile keeps the worries at bay. Hope your upcoming break is just what you need.:)

Hey how's it going Gadget? Do you think you'll be ready to send out Beta 5 any time soon?

Gadget wasn't around for some time, but he contacted me recently to tell me that he has some things to do at work till July, and he hasn't forgotten about the project.
We've been working on the project's sounds, some concept art and we even have functioning background music now (original). But even I haven't seen any new betas. All I can tell you guys is to hold your hats and wait a bit. You'll enjoy it when it comes.

Well, it's good to know he hasn't bailed. It really is a great concept and I'd hate for it to just fade away.

Hey guys,
Sorry for disappearing for a while and not coming online, but my life has been quite hectic for a while and I have some new responsibilities at my workplace with a couple deadlines to meet before July, 1st - that's why the project has been in stagnation for the last couple weeks or even a bit more. But please don't worry, Magic Gauntlet is definitely not dead and it'll get out of stagnation as soon as I get rid of my job responsibilities - which is basically the first week of July, I hope (my official vacation should start on July, 1st ;)). This has actually happened at least a couple times before in the Gauntlet development cycle, generally because December-January and May-June are difficult periods of my life because we have a lot of things to do at the University where I work (student exams, research work, and whatnot). So I have to admit that the project got delayed in a similar way for two or three months before, and I have returned to it before, and so I will this time, so don't worry. ;)
Hopefully this will be the last big delay before the project is actually finished (well, not "finished" as in "I won't work on it anymore once it's done", but more as in "here's the version we can call 1.0 and release publicly", you know). I plan to take the time I have in July and August to finish the pending tasks (a couple known bugs to fix in my todo list unless more spring up as I add new functionality, integration of absolutely wonderful background music themes from Dan, and a concept of new Thief-themed mana symbols, also by Dan, which is going to be integrated into the game once it's finished), and hopefully once that's done the first public release will follow. I don't like to predict release dates because things may change unpredictably as I work on the project, but I think August-September is a relatively safe assumption.
So guys, don't worry about Gauntlet - there are things in the work at the moment, a complete todo list is outlined till the moment where we can call the game "version 1.0", and the full-scale project development will continue very soon, and this time we're aiming for the project completion (at least if you can call that the first public release, of course ;)). More news to follow in about a week once I'm done with my work.
P.S. Beta 5 should be available shortly after the development is resumed and will include, among other goodies, a new background music track. :)
Thanks for your patience and support!

Hey, thanks for checking in! Real life can definitely be hectic at times, but I'm glad you'll be getting a break soon. I just wanted to make sure that nothing permanent had happened to Gauntlet. I eagerly await the new beta. :thumb:
