Anyone want to join me in making a Thief Universe-inspired Flash card game? - by Gadget2006

Take as long as you need bro. Real life is definitely more important.

So, what's going on with Gauntlet?

The package is literally ready, I've fixed a couple final minor things lately and also a potential crash spot that bugged me for a while was fixed yesterday, and there's nothing else on the bugfixing list, so I think I'm ready to go - which means I just need some time to upload it and make a new topic here. :) Sorry I'm being slow, it's just one of those periods of time again when my University job gets rather crazy. We're steadily getting there though, and I do mean that we're practically ready. ;)

Do you have an approximate date for when the Uni business will slow back down? Are we looking at around mid-December for the semester to end?:)

@ jtr7: I'll try to make the release much sooner than that - I'm looking forward to releasing the thing this weekend given an hour of spare time to spend with my PC. :)
@ Stath: By the way, I've figured out we overlooked two important things in the manual:
1) In the Direct Damage Sorceries (1d4, 1d6 etc.), you say that "they can be blocked as normal creatures except that there's no risk of a counter-attack". I'm not sure what you mean, but in fact there's a whole range of cards (counters) meant specifically to counter direct damage attacks (such as Glyph of Reversal, Glyph of Warding, etc.), and you speak about them below. Maybe make it more explicit? I think you might have meant that there's no way you can damage the owner of the direct damage sorcery with the blocking creature - maybe change your line into something like that?
2) Also, it's important to note that you can't use Backfire against Direct Damage Sorceries. I'm afraid if we don't write this in the manual, people are going to report it as a bug, and very often. But it's not a bug, it's a rule. :)
If it's possible, can you please add this to the manual?

Yes. I was thinking of debugging and beta stuff, but it's good you found a slot of time to work more kinks out for an initial release. :thumb:
The timing is probably good, too, since there will be some questions, error reports, and criticisms (Oof!) while you get back to work.

That's what I meant. If you think it's too vague/non-understandable I'll rewrite it.

Good catch. I'll fix that up tomorrow if I have time or Thursday at the latest.

Hmm... Well, I don't know... it just kind of feels like the word "counter" is a little ambiguous, because the cards that are used to redirect spells back to the caster are called "counters", or "counterspells". We'll probably have to think about it for a while, I'll think about it for a bit tomorrow. ;)
Oh, and one more fix for the manual: on page 5, you say "...therefore an infinite number of Fast Effects may be declared", though this is confusing because actually only one fast effect can be declared on a creature by each player. Therefore, I suggest that we change it into something like "...therefore an infinite number of Fast Effect phases may be played - as many as would be necessary for both players to play all fast effects that they may legally play."

The package itself is ready (except for the updated manual), tomorrow I'm going to try and write a text for the new thread for the game. :) Even if we don't manage to pull out a release this week, we might do it early next week I think.
