Anyone want Torchlight? Also Steam trades. - by The Alchemist

I paid for it, and as brilliant as it is, I honestly have so many other games to play that I haven't the time, so I'd be more than happy to give it to a TTLG bloke instead. Anyone want it? I'm also all up for trades! Can you give up a game you've bought, btw? I got L4D2 and it isn't doing a thing for me, wish I could gift it to someone else. Don't even care about a refund really, but it would be nice just to give it to someone who might actually enjoy it.
Also, is Mass Effect worth playing on the PC? My PC can now run it and spit it out for breakfast, but are the controls any better or worse? etc?
And would you motherfuckers add me?
My steam nick is Ziaeon... account name is EternalZion

Sadly, Steam doesn't let you do this. :(
You can only give games you specifically bought as gifts.

Well, I -can- give Torchlight as all I've got a a serial.... as far as I undestand. I didn't buy it through Steam.

I'd like it, but only because I think it would make a good gift for someone on my Christmas list. Shipping inside Florida would probably be cheaper for you too. :)
I got Mass Effect when it was super-cheapo on steam, and for the most part I've found it extremely dull. However, I've been promised by several people that the beginning is very dull, and then it gets much, much better. I'll have to see!

Buy Torchlight off Steam. Every other distribution has limited online activations.

Limited activation games almost always have this restriction lifted in patches after the initial sales drive period is over.

sometimes, but not likely. what you get at best is a activation removal tool (like EA does) but most of the games do not even get a PATCH, less a DRM-removing one.
MassEffects performance and stability is below average on the PC. If you have a console, get it for the console, you will have less hassle and the better visuals on PC don't make it worth the bad controls. Stupid AI should be platform-unrelated so be prepared to babysit or completely ignore your party most of the time. There is an average SciFi story there if you can stomach the "by the numbers, been there, done that" approach of Bioware and their bland design. In reality you play some Jedi with powers and attitude and that was the next best thing to a StarWars game back then.

I added you, Alchy.

Alchy, did you play Left 4 Dead 1? I think 2 isn't much of a game for some people. I'd be annoyed if I hadn't played the first one. The first one kind of had a cult following at first, and then blew up. EVERYONE was playing. It's hard to get a good 4 vs 4 game now. Everyone is playing 2. I'll add you to my steam, and drag you through a round of L4D2 with some of my friends. It's a good time because it's a social game.
Oh yeah, my account name is craigpresley. Feel free to add. My nick ends up being Taffer, but there are more Taffers than just me.

Mass Effect 1 on PC does have it's technical issues that likely will never be patched, but it's still overall a decently optimised port that takes full advantage of the platform (high res textures). Bare in mind that ME2 PC is being made in-house by Bioware, unlike the ME1 port that was farmed out to some inept 3rd party development house. It's only about $20 on Steam now and worth playing through again so that you have a completed save for carrying over to ME2.
Driving the Mako is a shit load better, because only turret control is tied to the camera and not also the steering.
The hot keyed powers are quite nice, thus having you pause the game less often by accessing menus less often like you would with the 360 version. As a result the action is far more constant/active than on the 360.
The new hacking mini-game is a lot better than the Simon Says bullshit in the 360 version and actually poses at least some challenge.
You can control each squad mate individually (unlike the 360 version), but their AI is still as thick and suicidal as ever.
The load times are a lot faster (at least the ones which aren't masked by the fucking hard-coded elevator sequences) and those God awful texture streaming pop-in problems from the 360 version are 98% non-existent.
P.S. I've added both you and dethy on Steam.
EDIT:
Inventory management is slightly less on annoying on PC because there's at least some equipment/item category tabs. On 360 EVERYTHING is in one long list, no category filtering at all.
