Ok, After trying many methods to get rid of this darn 360 controller drivers from my pc they obviously still have some drivers hidden somewhere.
So is there anyway to delete the JOYSTICK options from Thief 3? Maybe through a CFG file or something? Because even though I don't have the controller plugged in the game stills reads it and in game and in the menus its scrolls up and to the left! If anyone knows a way to disable the JOYSTICK option I would really appreciate getting rid of this taffer!
And yes I looked though with "Search" and couldn't find anything helpful

search for UseJoystick= in your default.ini and make sure its set to false.you can try deleting all joystick settings from your default.ini as well.
btw,I would really like to see the mad kamikaze that plays thief with a joystick (or xbox controller).seems like driving a nail with a bowling ball to me :ebil:

Hmm, seems it is set to false already. Weird.
Can't find any other Joystick words in it. And non of my controls are linked to buttons so I am totally lost then. Stupid controller. lol.

That would be me "GTA Assassin X". I tried Eidos who doesn't know what to do and Microsoft who says they don't support their own product so I am pretty much searching for a magical answer at places I know.

This is how my love for microsoft has gone over the years:
-For years, Hate @ 100%
-Xbox released, Hate @ 40%
-Service Pack 2 comes out for Win Xp and kills pc & I have to reformat , Hate @ 70%
-Xbox 360 comes out and I am still waiting on my reserve, Hate @ 80%
-360 Controller messes up my fav game of all time, Hate @ 100% again.

First, you could try reinstalling it for the sole purpose of hoping to get a clean uninstall.
Second, when you install, check the file/reg entry changes - If the uninstall botches up removal, do it manually.
If all else fails...
Open your control panel / System / Device manager, find your joystick, and switch your "Device Usage" for the Joystick to "Do not use this device". Reboot the PC, and give it a go.
(Just don't forget to reactivate it when you actually need it)

I know what you're going through with ms and your controller, because not 1 year after I bought my Sidewinder Flightstick, they released the Flightstick 2, and washed their hands of the original flight stick. The original software would not work on XP, and their response was "we dont support it anymore, we got this flashy new sidewinder 2, you should go buy it instead". Then not long after that they discontinued it and stopped supporting it either.
I guess their problem is they got their hands in too many pies and can't suport them all.

:laff: Yeah, I actually prefer a controller for faster paced FPS's. But for Thief....you need so much control over your character a keboard/mouse is definitely the way to go!
