What got me was that I didn't need more than one point in throwing to do damage - like all good grenades they don't have to hit. Conversely, there's no risk of killing your own party. This gets kind of depressing after a while, but it was good in that mine.

Pulled this out (not THAT you perv.) and started playing again. I had forgotten how annoying this game can be. I remember in my first game the player character actually cut his own head off with a sword. Critical failure? Understatement. Probably sounds good in a design meeting, But it makes you want to stop playing when it happens.

I remember playing this and having a lot of fun with it. The setting itself was quite different and the whole magic/tech stuff made it great. Troika made some awesome games back in the day, a pity they're gone.

I tried a couple times, but I could never get it to even let me log in. Plus, unless your on a specifically MP map it would be pretty terrible. You can''t do accelerated travel, meaning you had better make damn sure you've got somebody who can teleport if your going to play on the main map.

I enjoyed Arcanum on a lot of levels, including finding all the master trainers, and being able to go into buildings as a thief via the window, like a proper thief should.

I actually tried replaying Arcanum last week while my computer was laid up with a fried PSU. Still the frustrating mish mash of really, really good ideas hobbled by really, really bad execution that I remembered from eight years ago.
Apparently Saint had a fairly serious accident a while ago. Second hand info, but he certainly hasn't posted for quite a while and I can't imagine him using an alt.
