The best thing that TDS did for us was making criticism of Thief 2 unfashionable. ;)

I still maintain it is inferior to TDP, but that's because of content, art direction and story design, not the engine. ;) What made Thief2's offenses pardonable is the many great fan missions we have been able to enjoy! :thumb:

Thief Deadly Shadows is the best game ever! I like 3rd person more than 1st. It's great that I can change it in the game just by pressing 1 button. Amazing game! The music and sound effects are superb! I love Thief 3. Shalebridge Cradle is the best level!
Have you played the other installments?

That's solely because T2 is the best in the series. :ebil:

...and that's exactly why it isn't a good Thief game. Third person defeats the purpose. It's so annoying that the developers chose to make Thief 3rd person, yet DX:IW maintained a true first person mode. I wish there was some way to port the DX first person functions into TDS.

what 'functions'? Pressing 'V' and going back into 1st person and forgetting all about 3rd is a possibility, you know...

Actually, 3rd person seems to be the default. There was no forgetting it because certain maneuvers or loading a save game would take me out of 1st person, which was annoying by itself.

Yeah, I know. I've done a lot of work (
http://www.fileshack.com/file.x?fid=8417) modding the game.
This has been covered dozens of time. TDS first person is nothing more than a camera strapped to the third person model. It wasn't properly designed to give a clean, controlled, first person experience. It's hard to forget about third person when the third person system is grafted into the first person system. My point about DX:IW functions is that it had a TRUE first person system. That's one thing that was actually good about that game.

Well, maybe if you had a clue about the broken movement in Deadly you would have known better. Somehow, you seem to think that Thief is a third person game and that everything works just great! Obviously you know *nothing* of the majesty that was Looking Glass. Thief is a 1st person computer game, not a 3rd person console game. Sorry. Please, it's not too late to reconsider... you know we are always looking for new converts. Put away Deadly and boot up Dark Project, and I'll meet you at the cloister.
