I have Painkiller and the expansion for PC (aka the Black edition), as well as the port of them both on XBOX 1, called Painkiller:Hell Wars. One of the best looking/playing/performing games on the old XBOX. Both PC and XBOX have very good multiplayer. Actually, the PC version was vey competetive when it was new. They used to use it w/those large pro competitions.

Dude, make up your mind.
It has the graphics, physics, music and level complexity of modern games with the style of Quake. What's contradictory?

In
that statement, nothing.
Although I'd substitute "Doom" for "Quake".

I always thought it was like a love letter to Serious Sam w/a horror theme.

I'd recommend Quake Wars too. It's a good mix between intense frentic old school shooting gameplay, and the complexity of modern FPSes. It's really one of the hardest FPSes to master, but it's a very rewarding team game
Also, I enjoyed Clive Barker's Jericho. It got blasted by many as a repetitive game, and I do agree that it's a very linear game, but it was pretty fun while it lasted. You get to play with different weapons and psi powers, and combat is very fluid when transitioning between spells, melee and guns, so there are always many different ways to execute your enemies without feeling that one weapon is unbalanced over the other
For example, the minigun fires fast, but it doesn't deal that much damage. The dual pistols are always fun to play with, and you can adjust the kind of damage they deal. The katana + SMG combo is smooth and fun to use. The shotgun/machine gun is also kick ass when against heavily armoured troops. I won't go into further detail, but the game is awesome if you just ignore the plot, enjoy the gory details of the settings and just want to have some fun blasting away hordes of undead
I had more fun with Jericho than I did with the SS2-imposter Bioshock

Quake Wars is basically a Battlefield clone, but a good one.

No it's not. This is an ignorant misconception

Hey, how come we are all "Members", and ZylonBane is a "ZylonBane?"

Some questions are better left unasked.

If memory serves, it's the residue from several months ago when someone had jokingly changed some members' titles to "Moderator".
