Yes the whole north/northwest part of the Chicagoland area is exploding isnt it Dia? The transformation just in the past 5 years has been almost unbeleviable. And yeah the coyotes are coming nearer to the burbs mostly because they have nowhere else to go. When you see coyotes running along I-90 tollway, there is a problem. The howling is really eerie. Once me and my friend decided to wander through her forest preserve after dark and we nearly blundered into a whole pack of them. It was scary hearing them howl and circle around us but it was kind of cool too. Luckily nothing happened. Personally I am a bit more concerned about raccoons charging me...nasty little buggers. I guess tehy have been running off with peoples cats recently. One of my friends said to check out southern Illinois but I'm thinking about looking around Michigan or just heading for the east cost. Things just seem done for around here and the villages that do have 5 acre ordinaces seem like they are under siege. Where is a good pagan insurresction when you need one?

Here in big citys of France trees are often being replaced by advertising (using paper !) and sometimes when I am looking at a street I try to imagine it whitout advertising or traffic signals. Believe me, it gets close to the City of Dark Project
As for abandonned houses and ruins, I do have the same feeling, even if I never really asked myself why I do love them.
So is it kind of the same in France Platz? I heard southern France and the Vendee is nice. Some places have ruins I guess that on one owns because they dont want to spend the time or money to fix them up. Maybe if and when I get my French minor I will check things out over there.

Wow...
I feel even more blessed to be living where I'm at...:)
From Chicago, point your vehicle north. Once you hit M!ch!gan, drive two more hours north to the center of the Upper Penninsula.
Traffic jam in the cities is a used car parking lot; up here, its being the last one at a four way stop sign. In the cities, you hear gun fire, you kiss the pavement; up here, it's someone shooting at a deer.
Maybe that's why I love playing city levels in Thief...I'm not crowded in by buildings up here!
Last year, some yahoo from LA came up here to visit a friend. They wrote the local paper, complaining that the airport was 25 minutes from civilization, that we didn't have a "real" mall, etc, and that she would never, ever come back. The next day, the paper ran a local's reply: "Great! We don't want you here...and please feel free to complain to your friends!"

Yorkist,
I was only talking about big cities. Of course France is a wonderful country, and French are very much concerned with nature and environment (just a little bit less than German I guess).
We do have a lot of ruins, often turned into touristic attractions.
