I mean pure black... should I trade my CRT for a LCD? Which label has have a good black/contrast? I mean pure black for Thief :) Could you recommend me a monitor? Or even better a LCD TV set, which is great both as monitor and Tv...
Sorry this is off topic , but it must be Thief proof :)
Sorry also for bad grammar :)

Well I can't say that I've tried a lot off monitors, but I recently bought an EIZO S2231W and it works great for thief as far as I can see. A great monitor otherwise as well with good color reproduction and great view angle or whatever it's called. It's not the cheapest monitor though.
If you want really black AND slim, the I guess OLED is the way to go, if you can afford it.
Most online reviews test the amount of backlight bleed so look for that since that is a big issue here I think. Come to think of it, monitors with that fancy new active LED backlight might be good here since the backlight for dark areas are shut off.
Hope that helps

LCD's still have a long way to go, but if you want widescreen you will have to go LCD.

I have a BENQ T52WA, and it gives a very nice black.

I've managed to tweak my HP 23" 1080p LCD to a nice black level with system gamma settings and hardware settings, but it only works in a very dark room, the screen is just too reflective.

I would be pretty careful about getting an LCD and planning to play Thief on it. I've only tried it with 2 and there is NO WAY in hell I would play it on either...

Call me nuts, but even though I have several CRTs lying about, I love playing Thief on my NEC LCD1765 because everything is so crisp. And I can't even imagine fiddling with Dromed on a CRT.

My ViewSonic VX922 LCD is great for playing Thief. Though I always play Thief with the curtains drawn, I have no problems with the display even in sunlight. This monitor is designed for gaming with excellent response time (2ms) and a wide angle for viewing. When I make the move to widescreen, I will definitely be shopping for another ViewSonic. As Queue said, with a good LCD, the images are very crisp.
Jeez! I sound like a commercial!! :p

I'm not sure why, or how, but it seems that regardless of the monitor I play Thief on, I always seem to have a good time, whether it's on an LCD, a CRT, or a 42" LCD HDTV... Booyah. =P
