Yep, me too. I always thought flashbombs were stupid. Little did I know they were the most powerful weapon in the game (I also didn't know they effected undead).

Ah yes, the Necromancer's Spire. Cute place, wonder where Mister Necromancer is. Maybe he went shopping. Hmmm. A book. I wonder what it's about.
Ooooohhh crap.
I was in complete shadow, three feet from two zombies.
Now if you know anything about me, zombies are the only creature from any game (oh, and the Haunt, only zombies are much scarier) that truly scares me.
So of course I nearly peed my pants, yelped out loud, and made a flying leap out the handiest exit. I don't remember wether or not I caught the ledge, but I have a good hunch I didn't.
Oh and then there's trying to get inside the Rothschild's place.
"I can't believe they invited the Bumbleson's and not us, blah blah blah, after all-"
"What was that??"
*Slip*
Whoops, I just fell into the crack between builings. Hey look, I'm fallin'! I'm fallin'!

Ok this tread is as ancient as ttlg but still,
I'm a veteran (REAL veteran) player and I've finished T1 and T2 millions of times.
Only yesterday (!) I realised that you could blackjack Buricks :p
In T1 my biggest mistake was when I visited RTC for the first time.
I went in through the maingate and all those creepy haunts started staring at me!
Yikes  !
The result: 'Join uss, Join usss nooowww, ""Whack Whack AAARGG, Thud".
My biggest mistake in thief2 was in the subbase where I tried to blackjack the diver on top of the submarine . I cover the deck with moss arrows, sneak up behind the diver, swing my blackjack and "BING", metal helmet :p

Well, since all of you people are confessing, I may as well... :D
It took me a long time to discover the power stroke (Thief 2 came w/my sound card, without a manual, so I've got an excuse for that one ;))
And, I never saw the cutscenes, or whatever they're called, after Ambush, Blood, and I forget what else (I don't know how that happened, I must have clicked or something)...so, I thought Garrett was working with Mosley (I thought her name was Viktoria Mosley...:P), and when I saw the cutscene after Masks, I was really freaked out - I didn't know Viktoria was a mutated tree type of thing (I didn't get TDP until after I played Thief 2), and I was like "HUH???!!!"
:) <IMG SRC="angel.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="angel.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="angel.gif" border="0">
[EDIT: Potted Plant - zombies are the only things that scare me too in games... :p]

Time to reactivate this gem of a post :D
Disclaimer: I never read game manuals before I play the game.
I didnt realise that Garrett had a zooming eye until I was browsing the Thief manual by chance a few days ago. Every time I wanted to see what was going on in the distance I would equip the bow and wait til the view zoomed in, then quickly look around while holding the LMB, until he starts shaking then puts the bow down. LOL. Of course this made me more visible so it sometimes ended badly!

the first time i saw an alarm button in Cragscleft........ i pressed it :nono:
this is only partially realted, but on that mission that all u guys r talking about, w/ the zombies, did u kno that theres a keeper with a message for garret in one of the buildings? u can only see him from the corner of your eye, walking away, and when u get to where he was, he's dissapeared, and theres a book with a keeper symbol on it in his place
very cool, actually
The Kurgan on 6/4/2002 at 03:15
I've had my share of stupidity, I went through Soulforge without KOing or killing any servants because i thought they were supposed to go walkies at the end of the mission. Turns out, it didn't matter.
Worse still, I went through both games without knowing you could reclaim your rope arrows. :grr:

Speaking of the keeper with the message for Garrett, first time I played that level (pre-patch, normal difficulty), I saw him walking about in there, didn't know what he was, drew an arrow and took aim at where he kept passing...
...then decided to wait until he was out the door and move inside to scope the situation better. I ducked into a corner waiting for him to come back in and... he didn't.
