:p yeah... when I followed the pagan up to the cemetery and I sneaked around the corner to see what's inside the Mechanist temple...no luck.
I bumped right into one of them...and what did I do? I started madly blackjacking the mechanist "lady", frantically thinking what to do next...
and when I was doing this Garrett said: "Time to go."
:nono: oh my god ...I just fell off my chair....:p what a humiliqation...heh:tsktsk:

Oh and anyone of you heare got rude shocks when a Garrett voice-over was played all of a sudden? In "Shipping & Recieving", I only found out about the huts and the keypads and all the tenent's workplaces the second time I went through it. So I entered Capezza's workshop and I saw the turret on the table. I wondered if it will shoot me so I slowly went up to it and all of a sudden "THIS LOOKS LIKE AN INVENTORS WORKSHOP. I SHOULD BE ABLE TO FIND A VALUABLE GADGET OR TWO AROUND HERE!". Don't know how many times I got shocked by that... four, five times?

Like, who takes the time to read manuals thoroughly these days when you can just jump straight into a game?!?!
I managed to play through most of Thief1 (2x) and Thief2 (1x) before I accidentally discovered that the books and scrolls you come across have sometimes MORE THAN THE ONE FRONT PAGE to be scrolled through ... !!! ... For the longest time I wondered why some of the messages seem to stop in the middle of an explanation ... :tsktsk:
I've yet to try to blackjack a burrick.

My first time through thief I didn't realise you could read things that you picked up, so I kept wondering why people were leaving all this blank paper lying around.

Sorry getting necrophile, but this thread is definitely undead.
So my try now for the most stupid award :
--- In the first 40 hours or so in TDP I didn't know how to go: I tried to ran slowly by pressing "w" for a very short time. So in "Sword" I learned a lot about knocking guards out in aircombat. ;)
Now the marmor-plates aren't such a huge hurdle anymore.
---- In RTC I got really nuts. I wasn't aware, but seemingly I aroused the hammer haunts while walking too loud in the entrance area.
When I went the east side of 1. floor and entered the door to the main hall of the cathedral, I died immediately (perhaps sudden heart attack syndrome?) . So I concluded, the doors in 1. floor (W and E) are both trapped.
My tries to enter the main hall over the west side 2. floor wasn't successful too, because I made too much noise jumping from the ladder in 2F.
So I tried to make noise (like a typical master thief ;) ) in the narrow NE hallway of the 1. floor to attract the undeads and then to hide behind the door there, waiting for a chance to backstabbing a hammer haunt by a airborne attack.
It takes several save/load sessions and huge amounts of adrenaline watching the undeads walking through this hallway as if it's shopping arcade, until I eliminated with this "strategy" the three hammer haunts and I could start to explore the "remaining" cathedrale.
The next time, I started RTC from the beginning, I realized, that I have only to sneak to the main hall to avoid all this terrible problems.
-My most terrible moment in TDP was, when Garrett takes the first stack of copper coins in Lord Bafford?s Manor out of the foot locker and speaks: "When I'm here, I could take something with me". Boah, I was scared shitless of my own voice.
You can do something useful with flash bombs? You can kill undeads with flash bombs?

Hmm, I seem to have a list of things that I didn't know myself.
1. Didn't discover that haunts could be killed by backstabs and swordblows until the very end of Rotc, after I'd spent hours fire arrowing and mining them. One finally walked into me, I swung in panic and ended up killing the thing.
2. Didn't realise what the little turned corners on books and scrolls was, so only read the first page of each note. Only figured it out the second time through when I clicked on it by mistake. :P
3. Made the mistake of assuming that just because I was dressed as a novice in undercover, the hammerites at the end wouldn't realise that I was the one who'd nicked the talismans. Sadly they did, or just didn't like my face. :P
4. A recent one this, having just got thief gold I started song of the caverns, and crept up on a singing lunatic and blackjacked him so I could climb the rope. I got right to the end of the mission before I read on the forums somewhere about a map from the singing hermit. Bit inconvenient really that you can't simply wake people up with water arrows. :)

Yep I know this effect very well indeed. :D
This happens as long as I'm totally focused on the gameplay.
"If we're fooled once, shame on them.
If we're fooled twice, shame on us."
But who has to shame, if we're fooled 4-5 times. ;)
