You can knock out Burricks ?
It took forever for that to register, now I don't have to feel guilty.

It's fill in the blanks. :D Translated to real language: I forgot to reset my key binds. This resulted in different actions than I wanted. The key I thought (that used to be) was look (probably the ^ key) turned out to be walk. The key I thought (that used to be) was run turned out to be walk.

glad someone unearthed this thread just to see that this one wasn't just me :)
(that was real great when a guard was patrolling & the door was somewhere you were lit - having to run off & hide somewhere till he passed... then go back to the door for some more clicking :p)
and i think excessive lockpicking is annoying
now... geez

I've done a lot of stupid things, and in fact, I practically live and die by the quick save/quick load buttons. I guess the worst one, is that I still don't know how you extend the bridge to the platform in the Lost City. You know, the one surrounded by lava? So while you can jump TO the platform to go retrieve the talisman in the tower, upon returning you can't jump back.
And since silly old me doesn't like to use speed potions, of course i don't have one. Every time i play that level I try to remember how I made it back before since I know i didn't use the bridge, and i can never remember. Usually I end up going back to the tower and just jumping into the lava and mantling out before it kills me, then use a healing potion to make it back to the beginning.
How do you extend that bridge?

From the beginning of Thief I thought I was a pretty good thief. To go for perfection of never getting hit/caught I trained myself with my easy key bindings so I can pull out a sword, flashbang and kill faster then you can say "the snow is falling".
The game itself proved to be worthy of challenge to learn all of the 'moves' so you always have a few options when you're in a pinch...
To my sadness is the lack of some pathways to the roofs so you can safely avoid confrontation with seeking enemies (the most of them eventually find you when you run out of brath) was in Thief suprisingly low in amount, where the roofs always look over you from a safe distance of the skies.
In Thief 2 they came with the solution for the roof problem, most of the scenery from Thief 2 was accessible wich in my case made me a happy, fairly fast on the pocket and feet, taffer.

i can divide my thief experience in two generations
first one: i played thief 2, putting all torches out, blackjacking everyone, flashbombing any agressors, still psichologycally(sp?) damaged by the zombie in trace the courier(is that the name of that level?)
second one: played thief 1, putting only very strategic torches in the whole level, blackjacking only a pack of guards, observing guard patrol routes and waiting for the proper second to run through, still flashbombing any aagressors i find, and, discovered the fan missions ;)
